Thank you! I think the big day will be the day before or after WoV on 5/16. I still haven't decided on a route but the more people that express an interest in bearing witness the more I'll be inclined to end it in downtown LV.

Have you put that on WoV? Most of the people who are likely to be there those days don't come here often.

I'd be fine with either the 15th or 17th. On the 15th you could then join us for lunch at the 777 Pub and then for craps at MSS. In fact, a good ending point would be the front door at the MSS.

I haven't mentioned it on WoV except maybe vague references. The MSS would actually be a great ending point because I would plan to take Ogden Avenue from the west, which is just south of the casino. I'm sure I would be up for food and drink afterwards but probably not standing at a craps table.

A big down side is I would have a lot of street crossings to get there.

One idea I have had is to go to start at the M casino and go to Primm and back. A downside is that M is not very convenient to get to for anybody who cares to participate.

I'm on a roll, it seems. The decision is up to you, but if it will be the 15th, I can start advertising it at the WoV.

So after sitting for tens of miles you can't take an hour standing? ;)

For you, I'd be willing to sit at a craps machine, if they have any, but I don't think Doc would join us. Still, I believe there may be other games at the MSS.

After this 50-mile ride I'm going to be tired and stinky so I really don't think any gambling is in the cards.

Here is a selfie one of my new unicycle buddies took on the Blue Diamond ride yesterday. That is me in the back.

There's still a whole bunch of street work on Main west of Fremont. Is there a route from the M to Primm that doesn't involve getting on I-15? There's not much in between if you need to get in the shade or have a flat.

Maybe multiple loops of the flat portion of the Tour de Summerlin ride is a safer option, since it uses existing bike paths?

Yes. There is a frontage road the whole way. The guy in that selfie above has done it on a bicycle and says it is bike friendly.

I thought about just doing multiple loops of Desert Shores, which is a flat bike friendly area near Summerlin. However, it would be very boring.

If you take the 80 mile Tour route, and cut out the Canyon portion, maybe something can work for you that doesn't involve passing the same tumbleweed twice...

It feels like the road from the M to Primm would be a steady climb since you are coming out of the valley and turning around near the base of hill below Bailey Road, but I guess that stretch is actually pretty flat. Not too comfortable for spectators though. Maybe they can hang out at Gold Strike.

You take these long rides, do you get half way
there and turn around, and that's the mileage
you quote?
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

So here I am trying to be accommodating and you persist in being realistic. You're impossible. ;)

The mileage is the whole trip. In this case, each direction was 12.5 miles.
