Most of what I heard is ISIS. Based on current politics is can be contained to Iraq and Syria.

Websters defines the verb as a chiefly British expression for "to run away from debt". They speculate that it was derived from Spainish, "To break camp". So I would say, "confirmed".

The root is the Latin, "levare" which is defined as "rise".

Yes, of course it is where the sun wakes up. The word was adopted in English in the 1400's to refer to anything East of Italy, but is now used more for East of Crete.

I think that the Sun rises in the East makes more sense than breaking camp. It also came from Middle French, and not Spanish (as were most words of Latin origin).
