Of course not. Fattening the Vatican's holdings was just a pleasant side effect. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

New evidence shows Paul invented modern Christianity around the year 50. Just took a simple message from Jesus, and made the rest of it up. Virgin birth, miracles, resurrection, son of god, trinity. All invented by Paul. Go back in time and slap him around a little, he's responsible for the deaths of millions. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Jesus never rose from the dead. Why is it on our hands, he was just one of a couple hundred thousand the Romans crucified. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

So I'm supposed to say, hmm, maybe Jesus was resurrected just because some people believe it? I don't think so. Until it's proven, it didn't happen. The laws of the physical universe didn't change just because some people believe it did. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Obviously. Why wouldn't I get that. But what you want is for atheists to play along with believing things that defy the physical laws of the universe and pretend that certain things just might have happened. If you die, you're body is dead. 3 days later it's even more dead, it's non resurrectible even with modern medicine. So one of two things happened with Jesus. He was not dead when they put him in the tomb and was in a coma. Or he really was dead, and he stayed dead and is still dead. There is no third choice. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

| petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | Well, it is a big deal. I live across the street from a big church that is forever remodeling, spending lots and lots of money to make their form of control more attractive. The street between us has sewer and water running underneath it. I have to pay for that utility with my taxes through the fruit of my labor, while all their property is tax free. Not only is all the real estate across the street valued in the millions of dollars tax free [because I pay for the services they receive, because I am not tax exempt] but the members of the church get to deduct whatever they donate to this church from their taxes. These people are fully protected by the law [which I also pay for] to do as they wish. They decide to put in a day care a hundred feet from my front window full of screaming little "believers", and they also get to put up giant offensive banners right in our faces. Jeez, thanks for that, but how about this. Some fanatic that believes in invisible, mythological deity's is in charge of the big red button that launches our nuclear arsenal. These sociopaths have the ability to kill everyone on earth. Where is my protection [if we are all equal] from lunatics in control of military and the law [as they decide what that means]? I'm a hostage in an insane asylum. Look at the harm religion has done over the century's. Look at the family's destroyed and the psychiatrists enriched, the property stolen, kids mutilated, all in the name of your god. If a new medicine harms 3% of the people that use it, it is removed from the market. Consider how many peoples lives are forever altered through religious dogma or child molestation. You guys need to re-evaluate your guide book. I can not believe how you can believe in God, and religion, at the same time. I am saying the so called "religious", and especially the priests, had better pray there is no God. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |
