As with any free gift you do have to accept it.

And the penalty for denying it?

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

God is like a man in one of the societies (or kingdoms) where the guy owns all his wives. He wants to pretend they all love him voluntarily and made a free choice.

But it's all a sham. They get whipped, punished, maybe killed if they try to leave.

It's another of those pesky strings
attached to this non-free gift.
When Carnegie gifted a million
dollar library to your community,
you weren't fined or jailed or
killed if you never went into it.
It was truly a free gift for everyone
to use and enjoy.

The creepy 'free' gift of 'salvation'
comes with a whole set of caveats*.
The primary of which is, if you don't
accept this gift and all that's attached
to it, god will make you pay. For eternity.

caveat: specific stipulations, conditions, or limitations

The point is, salvation is not a free gift,
it comes with conditions and expectations.
Calling it free is just the hook to get you
in the church door.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

There you go, perpetuating the threat - believe in my religion, or else!

Just the facts mam,

Are they? There seems to be some debate on that, even between christian believers:

Jesus taught about hell: https://www.crossway.org/blog/2014/05/what-did-jesus-teach-about-hell/

Jesus did not teach about hell: http://www.godsplanforall.com/jesusdidnotteachhell/

The fact is it's free. There is no admission fee.
