Are Republican tax breaks anything like counting pirate booty?

The entire forum is listening badly to the left lately. It's as if we're missing some ballast on the right side.

Well, explain the position from the other side.

What I see is 1.5 trillion added to the debt, with a short-term bribe offered to the upper middle class in the form of tax cuts that will expire, but permanent tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

The next thing that will happen, what is already happening, is the cry "but we can't afford it" followed by cuts to popular programs.

Infrastructure will continue to crumble.

Has one dollar been spent on the opiod crisis that Trump as declared and acknowledged?

Of course, the reason that the tax cuts are temporary is so that procedurally they could pass the thing with only 50% +1 of the vote.

Looking at it from another angle, republicans are aware and have commented that if they don't pass this bill, the campaign contributions will stop. it is a classic example of a wealthy minority buying their votes. They really are screwed, though - since the things they are doing are apparently so unpopular, they will get the money to run a campaign but will suffer the consequences at the vote. the alternative is they won't have the money to even run a campaign, by doing what the majority of their non-wealthy constituants want.

I'm afraid I can't help you out with balancing things out on the right side, I don't think I have moved any more to the left than I used to be, but I feel the "right" has moved to the horizion.

Not me, I hate that tax bill. It's a wonderful way of showing our kids how much we hate them. It was just a joke about two of our most conservative being benched for a while.
