In the United States, where the felony/misdemeanor distinction is still widely applied, the federal government defines a felony as a crime punishable by death or imprisonment in excess of one year. If punishable by exactly one year or less, it is classified as a misdemeanor.

If you think that ICE dragged her away because she was a FELON (which, I guess is different from being a plain old lower-case felon), you are being deliberately naive. They wanted to make an example out of her and, not incidentally, spread terror throughout the Latino community. In this, they succeeded brilliantly. People are now scared shitless. You see, they believed the Trumpian rhetoric that raids would only be targeting "dangerous criminals and drug smugglers." Believing Trump is always a mistake.

I would like to think that we might show a little compassion toward a mother of two who has been following the rules and hasn't done anything wrong in the last ten years. That "Trumps" any consideration of how horrrible, horrible, horrible her terrible, terrible, terrible crime was in my book. But in yours--she's Mexican. Gee Stinky, what are your sources ? I have not read anywhere she just made up a SS number. I have read on multiple sources, mostly liberal, that for a few years she had to report every 6 months, then once a year after that. Are all your arguments so weak, you have to inflate everything but a factor of 10 ?
