| petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | I mostly quit eating tomatoes. They've bred all the flavor out of them in order to make the skins tougher for shipping. So, now I skin them. When I was young, we'd head out to the tomato plants with a salt shaker and eat them after picking. What a different taste food had 50 years ago. | petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | Monday I'm going in for another Esophageal dilation process, which should improve my swallow for awhile. I'm trying to decide what meal I should attempt the first few days when the process [stretched throat] is working it's best. I'd gladly pay a good fee to swallow just about any of the food that Bob has pictured in this thread. I got desperate once and put an in and out burger in a blender, just to taste meat. The first few slurps were pretty good, after that all I could taste was the grill. I think it must have been my imagination on the first few slurps making them taste like a good burger, then reality caught up to imagination? Keep the foody pictures coming. All large beefsteak tomatoes look like that. If you want one that's perfect get a roma tomato or an heirloom. The larger a tomato is the more sturdy the center has to be to support the weight of the tomato. The beefsteak tomatoes around here this time of year are huge. They taste great. Put it in a round bowl with about 1/4 cup of water put a dinner plate on top of the bowl and microwave it for five or six minutes. It's the same way you would do it on top of the stove except the microwave is much faster. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I have a suggestion for when the esophagus has not dilated. It's not a meal, it's more of a desert / snack. Wal-Mart sells a tasty Italian Ice made in Pennsauken, NJ, marketed under the Luigi's Italian Ice label. 100 calories so it isn't REAL bad for you, and it tastes great and will go down easy. Otherwise, for a meal when the throat is constricted you might consider Alessi brand dried soup mix: takes a bit to cook it up but it's very tasty; me I like their white Tuscan bean soup mix. Good luck with the medical procedure. |

| Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 148 Posts: 25978 | I was just reading an article about new studies that are showing how bad fast food restaurant food is for you. Foods high in fat and carbohydrate, like burgers and fries, will cause an inflammation in the hypothalamus part of your brain. This can have both short-term and long-term effects. Causes fatigue, poor memory retention, brain fog. I don't see how people can even go back to work after lunch of a Whopper and fries. These things should have a skull and crossbone on the packaging to indicate how poisonous they are. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

To counterbalance my ugly food I've included a picture of what a professionally done sandwich looks like. ![]() If you take a risk, you may lose.
