I am just not finding it. I also just looked through my University library online for archives of articles from that time period and I cannot find anything along those lines. I certainly cannot find any such work from Dr. Fauci….
But, HIV is serious and people should be cautious, and there does need to be government funding (there still is no cure or vaccine)…. The fact the HIV rates are more controlled (In America) show that his work was a success. I am not sure why people would oppose HIV research.

Though on an off topic point, Sub-Saharan Africa is the AIDS region of the world (in which homosexuality is illegal in most of the countries....) Its hard to find data going back, but its a safe bet in this region there has been doubling. This is due to many babies being born with HIV and not treated properly (as they would be in developed countries), and condoms being either illegal or heavily discouraged by religious institutions ....

It is worth noting again. That as of today we have 112k Deaths in the U.S. and just under 2 million confirmed cases. We are #1 in both metrics numerically (by a large margin, #2 is brazil and we are over doubling them in both measures).

So saying "America is operating fine the numbers are low" is simply not true, we are off of the charts is both cases and deaths..... We have more deaths than Brazil, UK, Russia, and India combined (the next four "highest" in deaths respectively)…..
Are some of these due to lack of testing? Maybe, but America has also had a lack of testing until very recently....

Many people are asymptomatic and never even know that they have it (or just think they have a bad cold), if we tested 100% of Americans, the numbers would shoot up (possibly double), some studies suggest that close to 50% of people who have COVID-19 will never even know..... So many people who are positive will never get tested....

The problem is HIV research $$ have always been way out of line for the number of people infected. On top of that, avoiding HIV has 2 easy steps. No gay sex and no sharing needles will cut your chances in a major way. OTOH, heart disease kills many more and is far harder to avoid.

Ever cross your mind that the USA #1 because we are not only counting but overcounting both cases and deaths? There is money in counting deaths as china virus even if it was only a minor part of the cause.

I guess nobody bothered reading the report I linked to a couple of days ago. The researchers working from the thousands of independent and random tests they did in NYC estimated that 19.9% of the population of NYC has had Covid. 10 times the official reported number. This is actually good because that is a serious start at getting the numbers up to where herd immunity kicks in. I will post the link again if you want some very good unbiased info read their scientific report and methodology.

When you say how many it kills it depends if you are talking internationally or nationally. Internationally it is still a major issue.

Heart Disease gets the most research funding so its not like its off the radar... "Heart disease" encompasses many disorders so its not like HIV where it is a single virus, it is a very broad term (which is why it kills so many).

But, HIV is very complex, and cures still need to be discovered.
