That's easy. Most people either love or hate him blindly and are highly unlikely to be moved off of their positions. There's also a significant partisan divide in this regard. When his approval rating was at 41% overall: https://news.gallup.com/poll/248135/subgroup-differences-trump-approval-mostly-party-based.aspx Republicans: 89% Independents: 34% Democrats: 5% Basically, a high percentage of Republicans are going to approve of him and nothing is going to change their minds. Similarly, there's nothing that Trump could have done to change the fact that a high majority of Democrats/Liberals were simply never going to approve of him. Keep in mind this is from 3/2019, so well before Coronavirus was even a thing. Basically, his ceiling just sucked. He failed to even crack 60% amongst Independents who consider themselves Conservative, I imagine, mostly owing to concerns about him not being, "Presidential." What overall demographic is mostly likely to approve of Trump? Well, you'd want to check the following boxes: *Over 30 *Married *White *Male *Uneducated *Rural *Evangelical Christian/Christian/Protestant *South/Midwest If you get all of those factors in one person, then I imagine his approval rating in that precise demographic would be nearly 100%. There's something to be said for successfully finding a niche, even if that niche is toothless, Bible-thumping, racist rednecks. ***This particular poll didn't actually get into religion, but come on. Actively encouraging them against the measures that might reduce the chance of them getting it is, "Trying to make them feel better?" Listen, I'm going to be the guy who was never in favor of Government mandates or shutdowns for this, that and the other...but the very least he could have done is jump out in front and get on board with mask-wearing early, especially in the individual businesses that ask (of their own accord) for their patrons to wear a mask. As far as limiting the size of indoor gatherings...it's smart enough...but that's another thing I think should have been left up to the individual businesses/locations. I don't think you should even be allowed to force it in the churches because of the First Amendment, and honestly, we could use fewer religious people...so if they want to risk congregating indoors in large groups and getting the virus, let them have it. I don't agree with restricting the size of outdoor gatherings whatsoever. Again, if people want to take the risk to attend a particular function-go for it. "Yes, we're not going to stop short of the cops coming in and forcing us to shut it down." "Well, in my opinion, they (the cops) shouldn't even be allowed to do that. Is everyone wearing the mask?" "Mostly not." "Are you?" "No. I'm not going to hide my face from The Lord." "Didn't God create you?" "Yes! Of course!" "So, don't you think God knows what you look like regardless of whether or not you have a mask on?" "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen..let us give them all they want." William T. Security would be on them like white on rice. Was at Sam's Town sports book. An employee was walking around telling certain individuals to pull the mask over the nose, just the mouth is not good enough. She actually got some compliments for enforcing the rules. It really wouldn't bother me if it wasn't for the hypocrisy of it. The hypocrisy comes into play because these are the same people who maintain that Muslim women should be forced to take off their hijab (an actual religious requirement) in some situations. Additionally, these are the same people that claim that private businesses have right of refusal (which they should, even if their reasoning is ridiculous) on religious grounds. So, they want to go into a private business and essentially claim that the business can't enforce a policy due to the Christian doctrinal teaching (which doesn't exist) that people should not have their faces covered. While ridiculous, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it were it not for the hypocrisy of it. Naturally, these are the same idiots whose actions are leading to different states (I live in one) to do things such as ban indoor dining outright. I don't support the indoor dining bans whatsoever, but it sure would help if these idiots (who I also assume do not support the ban) wouldn't be perceived as contributing unnecessarily to the spread of the virus. Even if the First Amendment could theoretically apply, it still wouldn't, because the Constitution only speaks to actions that can or cannot be taken against a person by the Government---not by a private business. But, that's just Christians. They like freedom, until they don't. Certain ones seem to almost always like selective freedom. Out of all the charts, statistics, hypotheses, that I've seen in relation to COVID-19 that is among the most impressive! What restrictions does Michigan have that Ohio does not? |

Indoor dining, bars, theaters have been closed since Nov. 18. Gyms still open but masks are required. College/high schools are virtual learning, elementary are still in person (I think). “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

They are running a neat "room and dinner" promo - $150 or $175 a night for the hotel (depending on the day of the week), with $100 credit towards your dinner, delivered via room service.
