Why should states with few people have two senators when states with large populations only have two?

While I’m in favor of all popular vote, I am not sure there is evidence that it makes countries run any better. Or that rural areas really get the short end if you don’t have it set up the way we do.

I’m sure someone has looked into it.

I am pretty sure it was based off of Old English law which allowed one senator for each person in the state but it was capped at two.

You should not have skipped so many classes in high school if you are asking this.

Oh, I understand the justification discussed at the inception, but I question whether it is the best way to go, giving more power to the few.

Obviously you know it is about balancing power. Keeping the kooks out in California from running roughshod over everyone.

So you say.

What ever happened to "one person, one vote?"

Why shouldn't the majority rule?

That's what a democracy is premised upon; this "republic" we're stuck with is far from ideal.

That’s two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner. You can go ahead and give everything above average you’ve ever earned in your life to the lazy bums on the sidewalk if that scenario ever happens.

That is a democracy. We are a republic. With a bicameral congress. Again, you might want to brush up on high school civics if you are not understanding it.

You could certainly save a lot of money with that. Abandon Congress and the Senate, just hold a national referendum once a month with any proposed new laws.
