Cuba is the key to the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico is the key to international trade for the midwest, the plains states, and oil. The USSR looks impressive in size but they really only have 2-3 real ports. To blockade one is to cripple them. The USA has more ports, but to blockade the Gulf of Mexico would cripple the USA. You might not know how spot on you are. But you are arguing with a guy who pledged 100% allegiance to a racist and violent group that wants to get rid of the police, so good luck having a reasonable conversation there. War is peace. I am sure most cops would love that because all of the high risk areas would be off limits.... And, the only areas they would have to patrol are cushy suburbs…. But, do you see why this is a bad idea? Criminals would thrive... The people who want the police defunded are the same groups that want chaos to undermine American unity... You can't let gang controlled neighborhoods have the option to locally "defund police".... The neighborhoods that need police the most do not want them.... There is a reason for this.... Gangs.... |

Sounds like the mayor is the only sensible one, the rest are giving into mob violence. "Community Led Responses" Yeah, remember these are the same people who opposed that one citizen's arrest..... This really means, don't mess with drug fueled neighborhoods..... This city has one of the top crime rates in America..... Huge drug problems, huge gang problems..... I'm not opposed to a bad idea on a limited basis for a limited area if people really want to do it. I personally think it is going too far in the opposite direction. I'm be pleased as punch to see it work, though I wouldn't put any money on it. In some neighborhoods it might not seem much different than the way it was before. Gangs are one of the reasons, it's more important that the police follow the law, act in accordance with the civil rights, and not have incidents like George Floyd.
