Who's talking about Obama? Obama's not even a progressive, imo. "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen..let us give them all they want." William T. Sherman |

Don't get me wrong, I don't like the concept of Faithless Electors...or even that of the Electoral College...but might as well have some fun with it if you're going to have such a stupid concept in the first place. I will say that I like the way Maine and Nebraska do it. Based on the way Electors are distributed, it makes logical sense. Well.... Obamacare, passed during the few seconds the Democrats had control of all 3.... adds somewhere around a half trillion each year to the national debt. The plans the Democrat party has now would make that seem like tip money. The Republicans are holding out for a less than a trillion dollar stimulus giveaway. The Democrats want around 3 trillion. And that’s just this time. They have already prepared us for more giveaways. With no way to pay for them other than printing more money, as if there are no repercussions for that. I know it’s just an anecdote.... but Musk ‘moving’ is emblematic of the problem of California. |

If you smash a brick into your own face once, I might give you pass. If you do it again, what am I suppose to do, call you smart? Proving you're smart makes it even more stupid than an actual stupid person. The stupid person doesn't know any better. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

Didn’t the Supreme Court put an end to the whole faithless electors thing? (I’m not sure the particulars of that ruling). Anyhow, most of the controversial swing states that Donny tried to steal have already voted for Biden today. MI is the only one outstanding. So the chances for faithless electors seems to be diminishing. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

The problem with Faithless Electors is really one of potential. That they could make a difference in a final outcome, not that they ever have. That's what (to me) makes a Faithless Elector kind of whimsical when the elector is not going to change the result anyway. Different states are permitted to handle Faithless Electors different ways: 1. No state law. -If a state does not have a state law that regulates the behavior of electors, then individual electors can do whatever the hell they want to as there is no Constitutional provision requiring them to vote a certain way. 2. Replacement. -Some states have a law that says that a Faithless Elector will be replaced with an elector who will vote for the state's winner. 3. Criminal Penalty, with or without replacement. -Some states are such that it's actually a crime to vote for someone other than the statewide winner. 4. Faithless Electors are not permitted, but... -Some states have a law that Faithless Electors are not permitted and individual electors must vote in accordance with the state's results...but there's no actual stated penalty or replacement procedure if the elector violates the law. ***Anyway, it's up to states how they want to handle the electors which, much to Trump's chagrin, is true of almost everything when it comes to voting.
