I am actually against the death penalty for legal systems (at least in civilian courts, I think military justice should be exempt, but that is getting off topic). But, I do think the police showed enormous restraint. Deadly force could have easily been used for defense. It seems like the rioters used for force against the police that the police used against the rioters. I do agree that I hope that everyone involved gets convicted. We do not need people like that in our society. But, overall I agree, I don't care about the underlying motives or societal perceptions, if you take that kind of action you should be convicted and face penalties. Personally, for some of the rioters who were less violent, I think that should be community service to clean up the capital. |

Can’t disagree more. To me, EVERY person that entered the Capitol illegally committed an act of violence. And should face significant jail time. EVERY ONE OF THEM. |

Well, to be fair, and I am not trying to be difficult. Originally, you said death penalty (which I do not agree with philosophically). I agree jail time for the violent ones who actually broke into buildings and harmed people. That comment your quoted was for the less violent ones who violated the law, but did not do massive damage. |

Yo, you're the Buffalo wing. Remember the charges come in layers. I believe just for breaking into a federal building can get you up to 6 months in jail. Then there's all that other stuff that may apply to some of those people but not to others. They even have unique charges like preventing official government work. And then there's some people who have the whole shebang, attacking officers, destroying federal property, threatening to hang Pence or Pelosi, and so on. Some people may be able to plea bargain if there are any big fish to get like ring leaders, planners. Hey Evenbob, if you don't think Trump could get impeached or the 25th, I hate to think what happens if that dummy Trump pardons those instigators. Sure If there is video or picture evidence that a person committed a crime, prosecute. Curious, any of the PDX protesters livestream themselves breaking the law like some Trumpers Did any of them post pics of themselves on social media breaking the law like many Trumpers Did they break the law in broad daylight in front of multiple news cameras like Trumpers Did any of them give interviews to the news media afterwards bragging they broke the law like some Trumpers did Police may have a tough job in Portland. You mean like the BLM crowd only cares when cops kill someone with a certain skin color? Once again, they set the standard now get upset when it is followed.
