Can't wait for Schumer & Pelosi to get thrown out on their socialistic asses in 12 months.
Cocaine Mitch back in control of the Senate, doesn't get much sweeter than that.
In the meantime we get to enjoy The Trump Legacy: A 5/4 Conservative SCOTUS beating back the Leftist Agenda.
Can't wait for Mitch to hold up the House Plant's nomination to replace Breyer.
That old coot should retire ASAP before he becomes another Ginsburg.
Too funny, the Dems never know how to play the long game.

So we can take sides and decide how we want to help spin this thing about supply chains, being dedicated to our political parties it seems, the wonderful things that they are. Yes that's sarcasm.

Or we can ask "how all of a sudden are container ships not being unloaded fast enough?" There was no news about this prior to recently, indicating that the pandemic is a big factor. So why were we not better prepared? I have to think the problem was building and solutions were not being enacted over more than one administration. The ol' sweep it under the rug , and now it's a crisis. Management by crisis, the American way!

The Biden administration is opposing certain reforms, wanting to suck up to the labor unions. "Highly rigid and inflexible labor practices" are being cited as a big part of the problem and it's being allowed to continue. Opposition to automation is also still ruling the day as well ... a problem that had to exist prior to Biden.

Now my turn for partisan politics. But I'll point out again this is not a one administration story. There's this article ...

https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/10/unions-have-made-supply-chain-problems-worse/#slide-1

Quote:
The administration says it brokered a ... 24/7 operation [that] began “weeks ago,” according to White House flack Jen Psaki.

You will not be entirely surprised to find that this is not true.

Port authorities tell the Long Beach Post that there is no terminal at either [CA port] currently operating 24/7. What has happened is ... one terminal at Long Beach will operate 24 hours a day Monday through Thursday...
None of the other 7 CA terminals are doing squat about 24/7.

These particular labor unions are some of the worst, and this problem has been ignored.
Quote:
In 2020 ... the San Pedro dockworkers [union] was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy after a $94 million judgment against it in a corruption case involving illegal labor practices. It was using “work stoppages, slowdowns, safety gimmicks, and other coercive actions,” the court found ...
[emphasis mine]

OK Mr. Biden, let's see some leadership, which means cracking down and getting things changed, doing what it takes. The rest of the world is already automating and long changed to 24/7 where needed

U.S. judge blocks last remaining Biden admin COVID-19 vaccine rule

Quote:
Dec 7 (Reuters) - A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the last of the Biden administration's COVID-19 vaccine mandates for businesses, saying the government exceeded it authority with a requirement that millions of employees of federal contractors be inoculated.
edit is mine

Democrat-Controlled Senate to Nullify Biden’s Vaccine Mandate on Large Employers

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) are likely to vote for the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution, handing Senate Republicans a symbolic win over Biden’s vaccine mandate, which is thus far halted by several courts. Additional Democrats may break ranks with their party and condemn the mandate, Sen. Mike Braun, (R-IN), the sponsor of the bill, told the Hill.

Honest question that I really don’t know the answer to: Does the House get any say in it? If so, doesn’t really matter what the Senate does, right?

There are a myriad of bills that will pass the House but not the Senate, or vice-versa. You are correct. Those are for show. Kind of like when the House will pass a multi trillion dollar BBB bill, but President Manchin will not vote for it in the Senate. So it doesn’t make it to (actual) President Biden’s desk.

If I remember correctly, the Senate passed dozens of bills ending Obamacare, but there were always enough Republican Congressmen to prevent it from passing in the House, thus it never got to Trump’s golf cart, I mean desk.

As I find out what is in the proposed BBB bill, I hate it more and more. Apparently there is a provision that if you buy an EV you pay $12k less in taxes. But only if the EV is made by union workers! I do not want the federal government punishing companies that use non union workers! Giving some companies the advantage ($12k is a HUGE advantage) is so anti competitive! This malarkey is not what I want my tax dollars spent on. If you truly believe that increasing EV use is necessary to combat climate change, then non union produced EV’s accomplish the same goal. I don’t want the government subsidizing any car maker like that.

In actual news, according to the Marine Exchange of Southern California over the weekend:

"In addition to the 96 ships waiting offshore on Friday, there were 31 container ships at terminal berths, bringing the grand total to 127, at or near an all-time high. The total number of container ships either at berths or waiting offshore continues to rise: It is up 25% from the beginning of November, 41% from the beginning of October and 79% from the beginning of September."

But definitely don't talk about the facts on the ground.
Those are so embarrassing for the House Plant administration and his "Maternity Leave" Secretary of Transportation.
The GOP is "panicking"? Based on what, Brandon's poll numbers? LMAO

Keep telling yourself that everything is worse than it actually is. We are living in a hellscape that only the obese orange insurrectionist will be able to come back and fix. That’ll work out well for you guys.

That comment is ridiculous. What we are living in is a time when things could go either way and the President is doing a poor job and is a serial liar. His anecdotes often turn out to be fabrications. He lied about having the "most transparent administration in history." He falsely claims that he has made great progress on the backups. He is horrid on foreign policy.

This is ALL him. This has nothing to do with the former occupants of the WH. They are simply people that he tries to blame for things that he could be fixing. He is scapegoating them for his failures. His supporters accept it because they hate the former President and believe the demented man in office without questioning anything.

All that aside, the issue is that he has no idea of HOW to lead. He is one of the poorest leaders we have had in my lifetime. Perhaps the poorest. Being a leader doesn't mean that you bring the other side to you completely, but it does mean that they understand what you are doing, your policies are clear and open for all to see, and you present a strong presence. He does little of any of that. He is holding the country up from a great deal more progress. A great deal of how things happen, for better or worse, is based on how people feel about their situations--they do things one way when they feel the country is in good shape and another when they thing it is not going well.

The polls show it--the Dems are starting to admit it. The President is a drag on things.

I couldn't care less about all the blather about the other guy; he is gone. The guy who won from the basement doesn't get it. If he was doing a decent job--not even a good one--the polls would show it. He would get the benefit of the doubt. Instead, even Dems doubt him.

After four years of pretending polls don’t exist, the righties are now absolutely obsessed with them. 🤷‍♂️

Weekly jobless claims tumbled last week, reaching a fresh 52-year low as the U.S. jobs market climbs out of its pandemic-era hole, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Initial filings for unemployment insurance totaled 184,000 for the week ended Dec. 4, the lowest going back to Sept. 6, 1969, which saw 182,000.
