Bessent linked rising beef prices to northward-moving screwworm outbreaks in livestock transported by migrants.

So. Let me get this straight: Migrants are walking their infected cattle Northwards up to the wall and are clambering over with them on their backs?
Or maybe they are flying in with them stored in the hold of the plane and then overstaying their visas.
Or maybe they bring them northwards for fun and abandon them to their fate at the wall?

"again, something we inherited.”

So, the cattle migrants are Biden's fault?

Or maybe Venezuelans are sneaking these infected cattle in on fishing boats.
Does Bessant think you are so stupid as not to question these assertions? No..... Not question..... repeat and parrot them.

Yes Bessent, the rest of the Cabinet, the entire administration up to and including Donny think we are a bunch of idiots. Useful idiots, actually.

Well, there certainly seem to have been enough useful idiots to put them in charge of the asylum. Twice!
When I hear absurdities like the migrant cows and the 1000% discounts on pharma and inflation being gone. Oh and knocking down the Whitehouse! ( That won't get rebuilt ), I see Anti Trumpers talking to eachother and wringing their hands but never actually and effectively taking trump to task. When trump says shut up, his audience shuts up, only to skulk off and podcast to eachother. World leaders delicately suck up to him. Meanwhile putin writes trump's script and applauds his performance and nobody calls him out.

You should do some FACT CHECKING before posting BS.

from that
Snopes fact check ...
"U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in November 2025 that the reason beef had become so expensive was that immigrants were bringing their diseased cattle with them.
Rating:
Correct Attribution

Context
Bessent was not saying that migrants were bringing diseased cows with them to the U.S. specifically, but to North America — in particular, Mexico, which was dealing with new cases of screwworm."

"However, contrary to Bessent's assertion, InSight Crime experts pointed to "criminal networks," not migrants fleeing their countries of origin, as being responsible for cattle smuggling."

Yes. the cattle are smuggled northwards into Mexico. Not by Migrants. It's nothing to do with migrants. That was my point.
If Bessent wants to conflate Migrant issues with Beef price issues, then he's a fair target for the piss takes.

The reason that Beef is expensive is almost totally due to the tariffs on trade with other countries: Not with Mexico.
From your Snopes article again "However, experts said that the increase in beef prices was a result of tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on some of the top importing countries to the U.S.: Brazil, Uruguay, Australia and New Zealand."

One word is he packed his stuff up and left to London.

If so, he better hide better than that.

Bessent was guilty of not explaining that the migrants bringing this disease northward were not crossing the US border with diseased livestock. It is such a ridiculous thing to claim, that you could defend him by saying he didn't intend anyone to conclude that.

The partisan approach:

The Left.... claim he did intend it, he was thinking of all the stupid people who would think that from a soundbite.
The Right ... give him a break for an omission, he didn't actually say that cattle crossed the border, and if he waved at somebody, it wasn't a Nazi salute

my opinion is that he, lamely, wanted to blame illegal immigrants but didn't intend anyone to picture US border livestock crossings

Well, Maria, the beef market is a very specialized market. It goes in long cycles and this is the perfect storm, again, something we inherited. And there's also, because of the mass immigration, a disease that had been — we've been rid of in North America made its way up through South America, you know, as these migrants brought some of their cattle with them. So part of the problem is we've had to shut the border to Mexican beef because of this disease called the screwworm. So we're not going to let that get into our supply chain.

Duffman told me more than once, we are not supposed to take Trump literally, so I assume the rest of his administration follows. Something is said, but it is never what it means until they tell you what it means. Like release the boat bombing was not actually release the boat bombing. It was actually just a hateful stupid reporter that said that.

This explains some of it.

Doublethink: The ability to hold two contradictory beliefs simultaneously and accept both as true, crucial for Party loyalty and self-deception.

The Tessla robot also takes a fall

the article says "The mysterious behavior led many to conclude that it was copying its teleoperator, who was caught removing their virtual reality headset while logging off, abruptly shattering the illusion of autonomy." The point being, that these things are far from autonomy, they "still need plenty of help from a human teleoperator who’s hidden from view"
