Where in the US is the Constitutional right to free food, free housing and free medical care? |

Portland, Oregon....thanks for asking. Bums get free tarps and tents til the city can find "real" housing, then they get free housing...even if still on drugs. Bums get free food at the various missions / soup kitchens in town, and if they need medical care they go to the ER and "stiff" the hospital. I wish the cops and EMT's wouldn't all have Narcan on them when they go to an OD call: were it up to me I'd let them die instead of reviving them: hell, what have these losers got that's worth living for? |

Someone needs to go around and have these people fill out Do Not Resuscitate papers. Then the cops and EMT's could be sued for bringing them back. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent. |

Funny, I don't recall Portland, OR having it's own Constitution. They can, however, spend their money on human services if they wish. Just like everywhere else... |

Of course it doesn't. Why should any of us really try to succeed in life if the government will coddle and prop us up when we fail miserably? Whatever happened to Natural Selection and Survival of the Fittest? |

Let me know next time you go to the ER and the doctors refuse to help you, saying "We're just going to chalk you up to Natural Selection and Survival of the Fittest". Indeed, why have doctors and hospitals at all, then? |

You make my point! I worked hard all my life, stayed out of trouble, yet had to pay top dollar for food, shelter and medical care. Now on top of that my tax money is used to pay for housing and medical care for the homeless: not sure whether it goes to feed them also, that could be private. Whatever, they suck. |

but of course millions of people do try to succeed in life in spectacular ways regardless of this they try to become wealthy businessmen or women or try to become highly educated and obtain prestigious well paying positions others, that are less ambitious still strive for good paying positions and desire to purchase homes and support families the consideration of what the Government will give them if they do nothing is not even an issue . the foolish sayings of a rich man pass for words of wisdom by the fools around him |

missedhervee Member since: Apr 23, 2021 Threads: 110 Posts: 3269 | It boils down I suppose to the notion of "social contract," i.e. the idea that people should be required to GIVE in order to RECEIVE. If somebody is homeless due to "bad choices," e.g. drug addiction, then to qualify for any aid other than incarceration for possession they should be required to do something productive, e.g. like in the old days when there were poor farms for the wretches. The notion of propping them up so they can continue to use and produce zero of value for society is a travesty. |
