If Trump loses, and drags much of the GOP down with him, the 2016 campaign will be autopsied until at least 2020.

Just wondering Nareed what gets under your skin so much about Trump. The wall comments are the obvious thing but you and I know it will never be built even if he gets in. I would have thought that Cruz and his extreme Christianity positions would be much more of a target for you.

If Trump (currently leading some polls) were elected his fiscal policies would probably be a lot better for the US than Hils. His social policies not so much.

To begin with, he's a bigot and a misogynistic jerk. To continue he has a hateful kind of personality. He has to put people down, constantly, incessantly. And he does it with all the glee and sophistication of a five-year old trying to shock his parents. He has nothing but contempt for the rule of law and the separation of powers. He doesn't mind employing violence, and even brags about it. Remember the line that he could shoot someone in broad daylight and not lose any support?

Cruz would have been bad, but he'd have shown the restraint of any other experienced politician who knows pleasing his supporters is as important as not overly antagonizing his opponents.

That's really funny. The man has wasted much of the fortune he inherited. His MO is to loot the projects he runs with other people's money. He has gone from bankruptcy to bankruptcy, always leaving someone else holding the bag. The purpose of a limited liability corporation is to increase the willingness of investors to risk their money. Trump has refined it as a means for stealing capital investments. He's said he'd do as much, explaining how he could contract massive government debt and welsh on it. Because, you know, defaulting on your loans works wonders. Just look how well it's worked for Greece.

Have you any idea what happens if America defaults on her debt payments? A lot of that debt is held by foreign governments and institutions, with China being the biggest.

If you've read Atlas Shrugged, Trump would be the bastard child of James Taggart and Mr. Thompson.

Look, much of the mess we see internationally is a direct result of having had two presidents in succession with too little knowledge of foreign affairs. We do not need a third.

I'm not saying Hillary will be a good president. I hope she lasts one term only, if by then the GOP has regained some sanity. But compared to Trump, even terrible presidents like Carter, Nixon or Roosevelt look good. Compared to Trump, Hillary might as well be the second coming of George Washington. That's an incredibly low bar. For the life of me, I don't see why more Democrats didn't challenge Hillary this time.

You sound like a kid in the school yard stamping their feet about someone they don't like. I would sooner have someone speak their heart than sugarcoat their feelings and hate only in their mind. You might want to be carefull about calling the kettle black, some of your posts show little tolerance for those with opposing views.

I have been in the construction industry for just about 50 years. Developers have always set up every project as a separate limited company and never subsidize it if it goes south. It may not be right but that is the way the whole industry has always operated. No different than all the people that walked from their mortgages once they were underwater during the last real estate meltdown.

Yes I understand the disaster that will happen once America defaults on it's debt and have posted about it here before. I believe it is when, not if. It will cause major problems through-out the world and will be particularly hard on both your and my countries economies.

That's fine when someone is willing to be brutally honest about themselves which Trump is not. Nowhere close in fact. People who say he speaks his mind have low regards for minds (IMO)

And he appears to be a bigger liar than most liars, which is saying something.

And I could dismiss that if he had a public service record, I could at least see if he functioned properly somehow despite his mouth.

I have very little tolerance for those who want to impose their views on me, more so when these are religious views (they're based literally on fantasy). But I'm not running for president, nor do I wish to ever have any power over anyone at all.

It's not inevitable, and it won't be an all or nothing proposition. But the every day fiscal irresponsibility shown by 99.9999% of all politicians, is still vastly different from planning to default on purpose in order to renegotiate such debt. The former is negligence, the latter is criminally malicious.

People have no understanding of how
business works. Even Rockefeller, the
richest man who ever lived or ever
will live, never used his own money
when he built something. He always
went to the bank and borrowed it so
if it went badly, he could get out of
the debt.

Trump and all real businessmen do the
same thing. The banks lend Trump money
(and Rockefeller) because they have a
track record of getting things done. Rockefeller
used to say the secret of getting rich and
staying rich is never use your own money
for anything, make somebody else take
the risk. That way you live to fight another
day.

I have a new reason to like Hillary. No real charisma, and doesn't appear autocratic.

Charismatic autocrats may appeal to their mobs if things aren't going their way. Then they just seize control.
