I am Face, and it has been 2 days since I've struck something in anger... =p

two days since I struck something in anger is better than
two days since I struck someone in anger.

Taking anger and frustration out on a recalcitrant bolt is wise if it would otherwise be on the next passing dude.

And even the "little things",... I have, for a long time now, been able to swallow it.

It's not about swallowing it. It's about
creating a different outlook and keeping
it till it's part of who you are. I used to
get angry because I had an agenda, a
way I wanted things to go, and if they
didn't go that way I got mad. Now my
attitude is much looser, it has room for
things going wrong, room for tolerance
of the little things that used to piss me
off.

Example. My dog sometimes has an accident
in the kitchen. This used to tick me off
years ago. When he does it now, I'm aware
of my old reaction in there somewhere, but
now I feel that getting mad is such a
waste of time and energy, I just accept that
he did it and move on.

That's kind of how I quit smoking years ago.
I just got sick of it. Sick of buying them, sick
of wondering if I have enough, sick of having
to make sure I can smoke where I am, sick
of all the details connected to the habit. When
I quit, it was like being let out of prison. What
a stupid thing to do to myself, I thought.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

And people complain about criminals in the NFL. Well, no wonder, they must be surveying for them.

Quote:
LSU safety Jalen Mills told CBS Sports the wackiest interview question he was asked at the NFL Combine was, "If you wanted to kill a guy, would you kill him with a gun or a knife?"

If someone borrows $50 from petty cash and takes 21 days to send the receipt for reimbursement, would it be fair for the person in charge of petty cash to demand receipts in advance from this guy and pay them after 21 days?

LOL, we only have $50 for petty cash. After that, receipts start piling up where we keep our $1 and $5 and coins for change.

I handle a bit more than that.

The big problem is that about half is in the process of reimbursement at any given time. And it's a sloooooow process. Therefore $50 can weigh a great deal if it's out of play for three weeks. And therefore my idea to lead by example. That is, making an example of those who take their sweet time giving me receipts they've had for days...

I like to imagine billions of years from now, our descendants will sometimes gather to watch a universe begin to expand, much as today we gather to see an eclipse. They'll take photos, in a wider variety of spectra, and be very excited at witnessing a rare event.

And one of them will say to their friends "Can you believe our ancestors once considered this a sign of God?"

There was a story on a Marine bomb sniffing dog getting the highest service award.

Anyway, I looked up the organization based in London just to see what other animals got awards.

Quote:
The Medal has been awarded 67 times since 1943 plus 1 Honorary PDSA Dickin Medal which was awarded in 2014. The recipients comprise 32 pigeons, 31 dogs, 3 horses and 1 cat.

Now, I wondered what did that cat do? I'll spoiler it.

Simon – Cat
Date of Award: awarded posthumously 1949

“Served on HMS Amethyst during the Yangtse Incident, disposing of many rats though wounded by shell blast. Throughout the incident his behaviour was of the highest order, although the blast was capable of making a hole over a foot in diameter in a steel plate.”

The first successful vaccine was the smallpox vaccine, developed in the late 1700s. But ironically it's the success of childhood immunisation programmes which has in part started the backlash against them. Dr Hes says parents don't see the point in taking action against a disease they've never known anyone to suffer from.

Wouldn't doubt that could possibly be the reason for the resurgence of pro-smoking people one day. (we don't know anyone with smoking related problems)
