one of these activated on a flight I was on a long time ago. It made a bang coming on. The stewards were not expecting it and didn't have an explanation for the noise at first. The bang that was hear on this Air India flight was maybe this, now that I think about it

Wow, exciting. I have probably taken over 1000 flights and never had any serious issues.

It sounds like the Black Box data recorder is badly damaged and India can't get the data off. Most likely they will send it to the U.S. for further analysis. The CVR has been recovered and analyzed. Hopefully they will put it out for the public soon.

I read birds, cats and dogs in the inferno were all burnt to charred ashes by 1000 degree heat. The black box didn’t nearly hit at anything close to speeds it should normally survive. Of course, maybe a giant piece of concrete fell on it from a building.

Initial findings show that the fuel pump switches were in the off position causing a dual engine failure. What will be interesting is if they can tell when the switches were moved to the off position. I would assume it happened while in flight which makes no sense unless something else happened before they were switched off.

Normally, pilots would not touch those switches for any reason at such a low altitude.

I just read the actual report and it shows the fuel switches were moved to the off position 3 seconds after liftoff. One pilot is heard saying "why did you cutoff?" The other pilot responded that he did not do it. The data recorder shows that they were switched back on 9 seconds later but it was too late.

I am a little confused as I was under the impression that the switches were off in the wreckage but it sounds like they were turned back on. If that is the case it might just be faulty programming or malfunctioning switches.

Suicide?

It's weird family members or friends wouldn't make a statement well before now if one of the pilots was suicidal, unless this guy was really really ""under the radar" and never gave a hint.

I suppose they will look at what kind of life insurance policy he had and if he was under immense debt. Perhaps to save his family.

I wonder whether suicide was the cause of the now near-legendary missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 disappearance?

Yeah, that's a bizarre incident. Although after reading too many of DG's odd posts, thinking someone like that might be piloting my plane, and his mind conjuring up some weird belief and flying us into the abyss does seem possible.
