Might as well start a thread as it looks to be ongoing.

Still no suspect
Killer took gun with him
Probably was seen running across roof
Two people currently ruled out-- or at least for now (sometimes that will they are not really ruled out)
There's close access to the parking lot where the runner was seen.
One bullet, 200 yards.

That's all I've heard so far. No mention of threats. Also haven't heard anyone there mention anyone suspicious.

Wikipedia had an article started on it before his death was announced showing we are in an era of really recording history as it happens. I don’t have the time or inclination to monitor it for updates but I imagine they are hitting fast.

For comparison I just looked and it took about two months to catch James Earl Ray so we may need to sit tight.

Watching this guy adjust his scope, even though I know people can do it, it still seems quite a bit of luck to hit target at 200 yards with only a few inches to spare left or right on the first shot.

I'm guessing the shooter knew almost the exact distance as soon the stage was set up.

Now that I think about it, though, I suspect the guy was trying for a dead center body shot. With a high-powered rifle that's generally a kill shot. And he was ready to fire off more rounds if necessary.

Guessing he was a good shooter and this was well thought out as far as execution [maybe not getaway] so the distance was known if all that is a fact

200 yds is not a difficult shot for such a person and setup under ideal conditions. Still, center mass would have been the best idea in case he would have moved suddenly

Right now I'm interested in motivation

I keep getting different news about whether shooter was caught or not. Right now seems 'not'

I think they’ve questioned and released a few suspects. It is probably Joe at the point the shooter had better hope the cops find them first.

Motivation is almost certainly political, unless there is some personal conflict situation that is uncovered.

But, 200 yards is not inherently a hard shot, but it kind of is situationally. By, that I mean, at a range where you have unlimited time, straight shot, and no pressure, it is nothing. But, when you have a limited window to run somewhere, setup, and take a single shot to somebody surrounded by a moving crowd of people (presumably without wanting to hit anyone near him,) it would not be easy. And, based on photos the crowd was packed around him on all sides and people seemed to be wandering everywhere (it was not a static audience of sitting people.) He may not have been an expert marksman, but this certainly was not his first time shooting a gun either.

To me it isn’t the 200 yards. That’s as sad if not hard but not easy. It’s the perfect head shot. An inexperienced person would probably aim for the trunk. Bigger target. That hit was sniper school level. I’m not going full metal jacket and saying they were USMC. But I am saying at the least we may see they grew up in a hunting family.

It almost looks like he has added something to his face to make features nearly featureless.
