I might even thank Trump for this. Had he been a widely popular President instead of acting like an angry baboon, no telling what executive power Presidents would have been handed.

Yes, I do think the conservative leaning court was at least influenced enough by who we had in charge.

This is actually politically bad for Democrats, because now the unpopular tariffs will be taken away.

But, it is the correct ruling. It is 100% illegal for Trump to do tarrifs in that way.

Tariffs are a 100% win for Dems, whether they are imposed or banned.

Donny will try and find a way to impose tariffs using other authorities, so they may stay until challenged again.

Now comes the part about getting tariffs refunded. I hope the companies that paid the tariffs kept the receipts!

This is good for the precious metals as well as it decreases federal receipts which means more printing of paper with green ink. Gold back over $5,000 and silver nicely over $80 today on the news. The Chinese keep buying PM's and I am convinced are coordinating to have the Yuan at least partially backed by gold by 2035. Wonder what happens over the next decade as all the dollars parked overseas start coming back onshore?

You are blind to what just happened. The Supreme Court struck down specific tariffs that were based on the IEEPA law and left in place ALL the tariffs that Trump placed on countries because of “national security.” So what does Trump do? He immediately goes out and restores the same tariffs by declaring “national security.” Nothing has changed. The tariffs still apply and now there is legal clarification. The president has “plenary power” under the Constitution, when it comes to “national security.” Checkmate! It was the perfect boomerang!

I keep telling people that everything has changed and nothing can stop what’s coming.
The Supreme Court just “helped” Trump and most people can’t see it.
They struck down tariffs based on the IEEPA law, that has been abused by past presidents, especially Obama, as I just laid out in a two part thread.
That law is so broad, that it actually endangers America, when used by a corrupt president like Obama.
And this ruling did nothing to stop Trump from imposing tariffs.
Trump immediately declared that he would restore the tariffs struck down because of the IEEPA law.

How?

NATIONAL SECURITY.
And here’s what most people are missing in this Supreme Court decision.
The Supreme Court did not give a remedy.
They didn’t demand that the tariffs be given back or how.

Why?

I would argue that they knew what was coming.
The Supreme Court did not throw out the tariffs that Trump placed on countries because of “national security.”

Why?

The Constitution gives the president “plenary power” over “national security.”
The Supreme Court knew that was coming.
They literally DISTINGUISHED what tariffs are legal and what tariffs aren’t.
That’s a great PRECEDENT for the future.
Clear law instead of purposely ambiguous law, that allows for future abuse.
Trump just exposed the corrupt IEEPA law in order to set the table to get rid of it.

And trust me.
Go read my 2 Part 🧵 on this Supreme Court decision.
Obama and Brennan just s*** a brick.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reply
Quote:
"Let's be clear about what today's ruling WAS and what it WASN'T. Despite the misplaced GLOATING from Democrats, ill-informed media outlets, and the very people who gutted our industrial base, the Court did not rule against President Trump's tariffs."

"Six justices simply ruled that IEEPA authorities cannot be used to raise even $1 of revenue."

"This administration will invoke alternative legal authorities to replace the IEEPA tariffs."

"We will be leveraging Section 232 and Section 301 tariff authorities that have been validated through thousands of legal challenges."

"Treasury's estimates show that the use of Section 122 authority, combined with potentially enhanced Section 232 and Section 301 tariffs, will result in virtually unchanged tariff revenue in 2026."

Someone would still be trying to show how it was actually a win if Trump was in prison.

Tell me which Trump tariff will be eliminated because of this SC ruling and I’ll agree with you. If you can’t name one, will you admit it’s a win for Trump?

Ambiguous laws lead to stuff like this, by the way.

Every tariff that Donny imposed using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, known as IEEPA, is struck down. Doesn't mean he can't or won't impose tariffs using other means he thinks are within his power (like he has already done today), he just can't use the IEEPA to impose tariffs.

The law may be ambiguous, but none of the supposed ambiguity gives the President the power to impose tariffs. "IEEPA contains no reference to tariffs or dutie " and"until now no President has read IEEPA to confer such power.” That's right from the decision.

If it's win for Donny, why is he acting like a petulent toddler?
