They may be less green than me or you, but certainly more green than Donny. Why can't you, on balance, see that?

Who says I don’t see that? Donald is the least ‘green’ person in power ever. How’s that?

But he is not (in this case) doing a ‘’Do as I say, not as I do” like the big name Climate activists do.

Even when I smoked cigarettes, I told other people they shouldn't smoke or should try to quit. Is that bad? It was still the right thing to say.

You are a doctor. You are supposed to believe in science and the scientific process. Give it a try.

Looks to me like Bezos fired the wrong 300

Ya know, some things are just stupid. One of them is to advocate how bad global warming has gotten to be when everyone you're talking to is freezing to death from the cold, no? Yet the Washington Post has done just that during one of the worst winters the East Coast has experienced in a long time, and I ask you, just where do you think their primary readership resides?

Who knows if the reporters are following good science?* It just makes normal people angry to see an article like that. Stupid!

Headline: "Scientists thought they understood global warming. Then the past three years happened." there's a paywall
https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/interactive/2026/climate-change-temperature-rate-accelerating/

You don’t think WaPo readers are capable of knowing the difference between local weather and global average temperature? I see your point but I would rather journalists not exclusively target the lowest common denominator.

I believe in science. I understand the science.

Let me make it simple for you.

Humans and our actions are a large factor in climate change, AKA global warming.

What I don’t always agree with are the ‘solutions’ politicians propose. And more specifically, the MOTIVES of these politicians. I drive an electric golf cart to and fro in The Villages instead of my Tiguan. Very green of me. But wifey chooses to drive her 4 mile to the gallon Corvette. Not green of her! But I don’t want a politician to prevent her from doing so!

Last I checked, nobody;s pulling over gas gazzling cars, sending the cars to the crusher and hauling their drivers or owners in to court for the infraction of driving a polluting auto or some such thing. Unlike you, however, I have no problem with our elected government disallowing certain conduct for the general welfare or public health and safety require it. otherwise, we'd still have DDT in our insecticides, CFCs in our refrigerants and propellants, lead in our gasoline and morphine in almost all our prescription drugs. I could go on. I am not willing to sacrifice public health or environmental destruction on the altar of "freedom".

I think I’m slightly more ‘for’ things like that that promote ‘public health’ than you think. Longer prison sentences for those that use trauma in their crimes to start! I’m really not against many ‘environmental protection’ laws/regulations/standards. I’m just calling out the hypocrisy that many of those espousing them show.

Aside from role models and leaders, as far as regulatory vs voluntary implementation and what will work. I have no problem with voluntary implementation, up until it is not actually achieving the desired result. But I can apply that to a lot more than climate. If a consumer can fully evaluate the apple he or she buys, then no need to have regulatory assistance. Of course, people seem to want to know now if it is GMO, or Organic, what pesticides are used, and even if the terms are meaningful or just hype of advertising.

And that's just an apple.

But also, one size solution doesn't fit all. For example, our country can exist with a volunteer military, but if we were a much smaller country, it's likely military service wouldn't be optional. So, I can't just say in all cases we must follow the exact same path in all situations to address a potential problem.

Did you stop using propofol after Michael Jackson died? Of course not.

I’m not sure what point you are trying to make? Propofol is a drug, essentially replaced pentathol, that has saved thousands of lives due to its much better safety profile than Pentothal. Of course, proper training in its use makes it an exceedingly safe drug. But not having airway management skills and using it can have a Michael Jackson result.

Why would I have stopped using it for my patients because a quack who didn’t know how to use it killed someone?
