the process of impeachment takes too long

if Pence was on board seems to me that outright removal could take place

I think it would be a mistake, it would set off Trump's supporters again

I don't think there's any real point to it. You're basically talking about a week and a half on the clock; I have to imagine that, behind the scenes, Trump has got some people in his ear that will manage to keep him relatively sane for that amount of time. He's since come out and said there will be a peaceful transfer of power and has also condemned the rioters.

The only way I envision him leaving office (for a short remainder of it) is if his legal team essentially doesn't believe that he can pardon himself. In that event, he might resign with a day or two left in order for then-President Pence to pardon him.

Pardon for what exactly? He has been charged with nothing and has not committed any crimes. You of course can indict a ham sandwich so it could be protection against revenge seeking AGs inventing a charge like making a phone call again.

Some folks are suggesting that Trump essentially incited a riot. While I disagree with that take, if Trump doesn't want to deal with the PITA and/or speculation that he might be charged, a pardon would take care of it.

We should mark this post for when Donny inevitably does try to pardon himself. Then Duffman will obviously change his tune.

There is nothing less relevant than whether you or I think he has committed any crimes or not. What is relevant is if the Democrat authorities decide there is sufficient evidence to charge him with a crime If I was Trump I’d want a pardon.

Senator Hawley lost his book deal
He tweeted
"It’s a direct assault on the First Amendment"
WTF
A book deal is guaranteed by the constitution?????????????????

One of my favorite things about this week has been the truckload of sh** that has landed directly on Sen. Hawley’s head.

He is extremely ambitious. Clearly desperate to be president some day. He reminds me of Martin Sheen’s character from The Dead Zone.

This is great news. I HATE that a sitting Senator is monetizing his position during his term. And actions have consequences. I hope he becomes a pariah from all.

I dont think you should be allowed to be a Senator if you dont understand the constitution
He obviously does not
Now that I think about it. You should not be a cop unless you understand the constitution. Shockingly, most dont. Ton of youtube videos showing cops trying to harass or arrest citizens taking part in constitutionally protected activities such as filming in public.
