As far as I can tell none of the longtime news channels have gone out of business yet. Some of their sub-set or regional have. Some have changed ownership.

Theater going was supposed to be gone by now. Drive-ins pretty much disapeared, but even Covid didn't manage to finish all the walk-in theaters.

Scott Adams has been saying for a while that movies as entertainment are pretty much dead. Or dying as a format for entertaining. They've been around for well over a hundred years and they haven't changed. You have a block of time typically 90 minutes to 2 hours to tell your story. People's attention spans have changed, we can take in a lot more information now in a lot shorter time. We don't feel like sitting for two hours in a movie theater. We'd rather see the story chopped up into 10 segments on a streaming platform that we can watch anytime we like. People just don't feel like the hassle of all the trouble of going to see a movie. Driving to the theater parking your car waiting in line, it's all too time consuming. In the 1930s and 40s before television, 90% of the American public saw one movie a week. People in big cities often saw three or four a week because there was nothing else to do.

NYT comes out with a story. McCarthy says it's a lie. Recording released proving Kevin McCarthy is the liar. In an Era where everything is recorded, he's got to be the dumbest member of congress ever. To just outright lie when there is an actual recording. Bottom line, too stupid to be speaker of the house

While in recovery I am staying at my mother's place where her sister also lives. They keep trying to get me to watch this or that movie. I keep trying to explain that the last few years my attention span is such that it is hard for me to do. That and I get tired of all the little woke messages in modern movies.

I used to like the occasional indie movie. I remember one but not the title, two guys had to store a car for a week for a guy who killed some tribe somewhere because their blood was thought to be able to cure something his wife had. Saw it maybe 20 years ago. Filled the time then. Could I watch it now? Probably not.

It always will be. They always wanted the "liberal Rush" but he was never out there. There are multiple reasons.

In the recording I heard he never referred to Trump specifically. He referred to "he" and "him". I think most of us believe he was referring to Trump but without saying it he may have plausible deniability.

McCarthy was never going to be Speaker because the GOP inmates are running the asylum. But this is the final nail in his coffin. They’ll pick a nutcase like Gym Jordan.

Well, they aren't trying to get rid of Liz Cheney for being too conservative. She won't lie about Trump. The closer you get to loyalty tests over principle, the closer you get to guys like Putin or Saddam.
