If you can't deal with a transgender person on the same side as you, I sure would consider you unfit to deal with things you will encounter in war.

Nobody is fit to deal with what they encounter in war. I sure do not want to have to rely on someone so mentally unstable they cannot even understand what gender they are. Unfit for service--4F.

Each Trans is not a huge expense
Of all the trans in the Military, only 2% will seek medical transition

That is too many. Let them pay for their own surgery. I prefer the money to go to soldiers with actual problems.

Are you saying not knowing whether to
wear pants or pantyhose isn't a problem?
You are a crass unfeeling person.

Careful with that, I can see the lefties here saying that guys in Vietnam wore pantyhose to protect against various bugs in the water, so they were transsexuals in the military even then. lol

Naw, wearing pantyhose over your head
to rob a liquor store doesn't make you
a transsexual. Or does it. I'm confused.

I think everyone would like to know exactly how they acquired that much fresh water? Even if the vessel had a water maker, it needed power of some kind.
Some are designed to just place out in the sun, that would be the kind provided in a lifeboat or raft. But if that was what they had, I would expect that to not produce enough if they had to depend on it totally, not just supplementally .

Latest news brings up more things,

*apparently claimed they would have died within the next 24 hours, a ridiculous claim if reported correctly. Fits with it being just a publicity stunt though.

*There was no storm of the type described by the women at the time they claimed.

*"a Coast Guard spokeswoman told the AP that the women had an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) on board, which could have been used to alert search and rescue services via satellite at any point during their five-month journey...'We asked why during this course of time did they not activate the EPIRB. She had stated they never felt like they were truly in distress...' "

Come on!

Yet it is hard for me to put together what exactly they were up to ... they were somewhere else all this time?

Total military spending on erectile dysfunction medications: $84 million annually
Estimated military cost of gender-transition related medical treatment: $2.4-8.4 million annually

Therefore we should ban people with ED from military service.

Who knows, it might get you declared 4-F. Many things will. Being a single parent at least used to get you banned. Flat feet could get you 4-F. The military does not want to buy people's medical and other issues. Nor should it.

I'm still being charitable to them on this issue but it shows how poor the reporters were. Too many experienced sailors are speaking up. Its a matter of too many people having too many points on which they are amazed. Sheer incompetence or outright fraud? Who knows. Having the Navy sending them a bill is the wrong thing to do though. We have enough problems with the SOLAS treaties and their proposed revisions that we should not be adding fuel to the fire by trying to make search and rescue on the high seas a monetary issue.

On-Edit: It seems the 'death w/in 24 hours' was misreported. She was explaining why she never activated her EPIRB and said that she considered such things as designed to be used during actual sinkings or similar situation where death w/in 24 hours is a realistic threat. The quality of the reporting on this has been very poor and is perhaps to blame for some of what has happened.
