That's my understanding, though I don't know much. Putin stance on Syria and Assad is part of what makes Russia our enemy. Add takeover of Ukraine, selling arms to Iran and others we are blockading, and their interference in democratic elections here, in France and Germany, and who knows where else, plus other stuff, and one thing is clear. They are not our friend, our ally, or our partner. They are waging modern war on us and other NATO countries (which was created to oppose Russia), and it's way past time we recognized that.

Trump is trying to change all that for personal benefit and/or whatever the extent of his debt or beholdenness to Russian oligarchs, and/or Putin himself. It's all about lifting the sanctions and letting the oil deal go forward.

I really think we only know the tip of the iceberg both in scope and breadth of what's gone on the past 10 years or more. I'm hoping (and expecting) that Mueller is concentrating at least some of his investigation on unraveling the larger relationship.

I don't look at or discuss polls since
the election, but this is nuts.
The Emerson poll, which is very
reliable, has Moore at almost +10.
The Fox poll has him at -10. Turns
out Fox hugely over sampled Dems.
WTF? This is why I don't trust any
of them anymore, it's all fixed.

Errrr.... you do realize there is a difference between Fox News and the company they hire to do their polls?

Certain polls lean right, others lean left. But it has nothing to do with which news organization commissioned them.

Maybe I read a different methodology report than you did. They said Fox called people on their cell phones (possibly among other ways of reaching them). Few if any pollsters do this, including party pollsters for internals. This is (IME as a pollster) because the database of registered voters doesn't include cells. People list their house phone, or don't list one, at least until recently, as more people who only have a cell listed it when they registered.

As a result, Fox reached a higher percentage of younger voters than usual. And younger voters have zero patience with Roy Moore's bs, or with the Southern custom of marrying off women when they're still girls. Lots of poorer people are also disconnecting their house phone and having cell only instead. That would include most Alabama blacks.

We'll see tomorrow what happens. Turnout matters;
The Left is very energized about defeating Moore. The Right is not enthusiastic about him . There is a lot less of the Left in Alabama, but they're more likely to make the effort to vote.

Someone who knows the state well said that if Doug Jones were anti-abortion, the election would be over and he'd win, but he insists on a pro-choice stance. Wherever you might stand on abortion, I find it refreshing and commendable that there's someone in the race that doesn't compromise his stances for political expediency.

They also said that a different Republican, almost any other, and again the election would be over, in the Republican's favor. Their distaste for and awareness of Roy Moore's many problems is what's keeping it close.

I think it could go either way.

So, you do not think news organizations hire pollsters who lean the way they want?

Correct. The thing is, it's easy to determine which pollsters suck as soon as the results come in. If Fox polls always leaned right no one would take them seriously after a while.... kind of like Rasmussen polls.

The difference is that the righties admit Rasmussen leans right. The lefties don't acknowledge the polls that lean left.
