So, I listened to an npr interview of a gop senator about "the fbi memos" My impression: Trump supporters (including senators) are running scared. They must know the results of the investigation are going to be bad, because they are doing everything possible to discredit the fbi and the investigation in the hopes that they can dismiss the results and not do their job serving the american people by possibly going after one of "their own" The interview followed the defect, distract, discredit plan. He wouldn't answer questions, but instead deflected to Hillary's email, Comey's investigation, something about Obama, anything about the actual contents of these memos, what it may mean if they are missing, just all over the place avoiding answering the interviewer's questions. He was promoting the "secret fbi" rumors, by acknowleding that it was something that he "heard" or someone else said, without admitting whether or not he believed them. He is promoting the logical fallacy that just because some members of an investigation aren't partial, that the whole investigation is unfair. It was a real tin-foil-hat wearing conspiracy theorist interview, and this was a US senator! "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Daniel Patrick Moynihan |

The DOJ has found those "missing" text messages. The scope of this thing just got a whole lot smaller... LOLOLOL “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

| Dalex64 Member since: Mar 8, 2014 Threads: 3 Posts: 3687 | Washington Post headline from 2 hours ago: "It's looking more and more like there is a coordinated GOP effort to discredit the Trump-Russia investigation" I saw it, they can see it. Everything I heard in that interview on npr earlier is in this article. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/01/25/its-looking-more-and-more-like-there-is-a-coordinated-gop-effort-to-discredit-the-trump-russia-investigation/ Perhaps they based their article on that interview, among other things? here's an opinion piece from the slightly-right leaning The Hill http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/370699-the-gop-uses-fbi-secret-society-charge-to-overplay-its-unbeatable-hand he accuses the GOP of being in danger of incompetence for spreading this fbi "secret society" stuff "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Duh. That's all this ever was. THEY'RE SCARED. They know Mueller is going to find stuff. He's already got two convictions. The thing about the GOP (and Trump especially) is whatever crimes they're accused of committing, they always have to try to flip it around and accuse their opponents of doing the same thing or something worse. "No puppet! You're the puppet!" is the most succinct example of this. I've been thinking about creating a thread asking what crimes the GOP will accuse the 2020 Democratic nominee of committing. Because you know come 2020, Trump will push the DOJ and FBI to investigate the 2020 nominee, no matter who it is, for some nonsense charge. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |
