Donald can declassify anything he wants to.

There is a reason the GOP won't release the memo they desperately pretend they want released....

So, I listened to an npr interview of a gop senator about "the fbi memos"

My impression: Trump supporters (including senators) are running scared.

They must know the results of the investigation are going to be bad, because they are doing everything possible to discredit the fbi and the investigation in the hopes that they can dismiss the results and not do their job serving the american people by possibly going after one of "their own"

The interview followed the defect, distract, discredit plan.

He wouldn't answer questions, but instead deflected to Hillary's email, Comey's investigation, something about Obama, anything about the actual contents of these memos, what it may mean if they are missing, just all over the place avoiding answering the interviewer's questions.

He was promoting the "secret fbi" rumors, by acknowleding that it was something that he "heard" or someone else said, without admitting whether or not he believed them.

He is promoting the logical fallacy that just because some members of an investigation aren't partial, that the whole investigation is unfair.

It was a real tin-foil-hat wearing conspiracy theorist interview, and this was a US senator!

Apparently the Republicans could read the non-classified parts on the floor of congress at will.
They just make excuses why they won't.
I don't know what memo this is that you are talking about, there is no real difference between Republicans and Democrats, making excuses is what politicians do for a living and I don't want to hear excerpts anyway: all or nothing,.

WTF is going on at USA Gymnastics
Hundreds of girls molested and nobody knew???????????
Seems like a lot of people turned a blind eye to what was going on simply to protect the organization
really sad
Have these organizations learned nothing from Penn State?
just shocking

I'm realizing I'm not saying much
about what's going on with the
whole Memogate and Textgate
thing. It's just so huge, so many
members of congress involved
now, so much collusion between
the DOJ, FBI and Obama to stop
Trump and elect Her. It's beyond
mind blowing, the arrogance and
hubris of Her supporters. Makes
Watergate look like a joke, the
scope of this thing is so huge.

The DOJ has found those "missing" text messages.

The scope of this thing just got a whole lot smaller...

Washington Post headline from 2 hours ago: "It's looking more and more like there is a coordinated GOP effort to discredit the Trump-Russia investigation"

I saw it, they can see it.

Everything I heard in that interview on npr earlier is in this article.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/01/25/its-looking-more-and-more-like-there-is-a-coordinated-gop-effort-to-discredit-the-trump-russia-investigation/

Perhaps they based their article on that interview, among other things?

here's an opinion piece from the slightly-right leaning The Hill
http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/370699-the-gop-uses-fbi-secret-society-charge-to-overplay-its-unbeatable-hand

he accuses the GOP of being in danger of incompetence for spreading this fbi "secret society" stuff

Duh. That's all this ever was.

THEY'RE SCARED. They know Mueller is going to find stuff. He's already got two convictions.

The thing about the GOP (and Trump especially) is whatever crimes they're accused of committing, they always have to try to flip it around and accuse their opponents of doing the same thing or something worse. "No puppet! You're the puppet!" is the most succinct example of this.

I've been thinking about creating a thread asking what crimes the GOP will accuse the 2020 Democratic nominee of committing. Because you know come 2020, Trump will push the DOJ and FBI to investigate the 2020 nominee, no matter who it is, for some nonsense charge.

Another opinion from The Hill

http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/370658-gop-panics-as-signs-point-to-imminent-mueller-blockbuster?amp

Agrees with me (and ams) that the Republican are scared and Trump's words about testifying are meaningless because no matter how much he claims he yearns to testify, that decision is dependant on what his lawyers tell him (and no doubt have already told him)

The Republicans probably have a good idea of what's up, since the people Meuller interviewed would be likely to report back to them.
