It's a hotel that just sold for the 3rd highest price ever. 1.4 million per room.

Do we get to know where it is?

Sand. Ocean. Rocky Cliffs. Cars driving on the right-hand side of road. Plenty of SUVs. Palm trees and dried out deciduous. I say southern Cali.

Montage, Laguna Beach, OC, CA.
Lagunatics abound there. Even the servants drive BMWs.

$1000 a night for a suite. I can stay at
4 queens for $45 and be happy as a
clam.

I imagine people build brand new resorts for that price. I know Wynn was $2.7 billion for 2700 rooms ($1 million per room). You could argue that Vegas casinos are built for high prices per room because they are catering to many people who aren't staying in the rooms.

The 1,200-room Hyatt Regency Waikoloa was built in 1988 for $360 million which was billed as the most expensive resort in the world at the time ($300K per room), but was sold for $60 million only 5 years later when the Japan real estate bubble burst.

Should hotels be classified as "mansions"? They aren't private residences. They serve a different purpose.

Always wondered how hard it would be to live on Mt. Charleston (right on the perimeter of Vegas if you don't already know.)

Looks like you could buy that for the price of a certain website.
