but something that will be above the average at our kid's private school.

It's almost like your wife is status conscious.
Get her one of these and tell her it has
to last till 2030.

They won't be talking about any other car.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

The word status is from 1670s and meant "height" of a situation or condition. But phrase like "status symbol" first recorded 1955; "status-seeker" from 1956; and "status-anxiety" is from 1959.
A wife is by almost by definition "status conscious". I am sure that they were responsible for the invention of the phrase in the 1950's.

I am sure that the Wizard was making gentle fun of the way sexes see the world. You are a little more vocal about the battle of the sexes.

My brother goes on and on about Volkswagen engineering, but he has a Mercedes for his wife.

Even at 9 decades old, the Phantom is still one of the prettiest cars ever.

I reported here in June my wife bought a
new car. She has 3 sisters. In July, all 3
of her sisters bought new cars from the
same family friend at the same dealership.
I kid you not. Are wives status conscious?
I was personally appalled, but not surprised.

If men made purchasing decision the post WWII economy would collapse.

My sister-in-law had a Lexus now something else fancy I forget what, which should show you how having a nice car has fallen in importance to me. My brother drives an over 10 year old SUV. I will have had my car 10 years next July. He is trying to show her how you can have a nice car or nice vacation/other stuff but not both. Fancy cars are a huge money-suck.

If women did most of the earning they would make purchase decisions like men. Women go crazy when they have to spend money they earned.

In my family I am the one that wants the new car every three years. My wife still drives around a ten year old Neon and won't even entertain getting a new car until this one quits. I am a very frugal person and am always looking to save 25 cents when at the market, but the thrree things I spend freely on are my car, vacations, and gambling. Other than that I am a penny pincher. My wife is just the opposite. She is happy with her old beater of a car but is ordering something online just about every day.

The last new car was 1994 Jeep for my wife
and she traded it for the one in June. No rust,
leather interior was like new, 150K miles. Big
V8 that got 13mph. I wonder who has it now,
the dealership sells car trade in's over 10 years
old at an auction. I bet the hands were in the
air for a red Jeep Cherokee, nice beater for MI
winters. I would have kept it but they had a
deal where they gave $3500 for any car
you brought in. I would have given her 500.
