Again if you need forensic proof it is hopeless for you. Do you currently or would you ever believe in anything if you did not have forensic proof?

For something as big and life changing as
this, why would you ever consider anything
but actual proof. A bunch of people said so
2000 years ago is NOT proof. Unless you're
superstitious and desperate, which people
were up until very recently in history.

If somebody told me men jump out of
planes with parachutes, I would probably
believe them without proof. But that's
because I don't care if it's true or not.
The story of Jesus after he died would
be very important if there was proof.
But because there isn't, it's just another
story, one among many from the ancient
past.

The bible is an example of what I was talking about. There is a great difference of opinion over which stories are literal truth, and which ones are just stories. There are certainly stories that most people agree with as being literal or being allegorical, but there are a lot of them which cause disagreement.

I know you yourself have stated how story x or story y shouldn't be interpreted literally, and it doesn't take much searching to find an educated person who believes those stories to be the literal truth.

Just because something is in the bible doesn't mean that it hasn't been permuted over time. Some might even say that the bible is the most edited and revised book in history.

The padre doesn't understand what this
looks like to people outside the religion.
It appears to be a lot of confused people
flailing around, trying to find the truth.
What it tells me is none of it's true,
except the parts recorded in multiple
places at the time it happened. Which
is almost none of it.

Isn't this who we all are? This strikes me as a good description of humanity.

Not hardly. You're responses are getting more
and more vague. My dog is god, and Christianity
is so confusing and unfocused because 'this
is who we all are.' No, that's how Christianity
is because the NT is so disjointed and can be
taken so many different ways.

So scientists and historians are all in agreement about everything? Heck, is even the local condo association in agreement with everything?

So your answer as to why Christianity is so hard
to understand, that there are 3000 versions of
it, is that there is disagreement in lots of things?

That's the same logic a kid uses when he gets
caught smoking pot. Everybody else is doing
it, why not him. Of course Christianity is screwed
up and nobody can agree, everything else is
screwed up to.

That's no answer, of course, it's the original cop-out.
It's in Catch-22 also. Yossarian doesn't want to fly.
His commander says 'what if everybody felt that
way?' To which Yossarian replies 'then I'd be crazy
to feel any way else.'

I think maybe you think because the founder of Christianity was perfect and God that anyone who is a Christian is also perfect. I would have thought from my own example you would know this is not true.

The real reason why Christianity is so hard to understand is sin. As you said, "everything else is screwed up too". For someone who doesn't believe in sin you sure have a firm grasp on the problems of humanity. I wonder how you explain why everything is so screwed up too? Anyway, we all want to have things our way and the Catholic Church is not Burger King. Our pride wants to change reality to our liking and therefore we end up with lots of different versions of things. This is the case in science, history, and big surprise religion. By the way I came across some numbers today that show your 3,000 different versions is way too low believe it or not. Here is the link: World Christianity By The Numbers...

Why would you think I think that. There
is no god, religions are started by men.

Where do I say everything is 'screwed up'?
I think Christianity is screwed up because
it can't get it's story straight.

And you're doing it yet again! You think
because there are lots of Christians, the
religion just has to be true. And again I
say, do you really want to go down that
road into the past where millions believed
things that were absolute lies? Also, the
vast majority of believers in any religion
are believers in name only. Just talk to
them, they know more about American
Idol and Glee than about their own faith.

No, I have never said that. I continue to point to the evidence that if billions of people have believed something for thousands of years than it is evidence to points to its credibility.

Not only is this not true, but it is so funny that you are using the exact same argument you falsely accused me of using in the quote above. So in your mind this made-up vast majority makes Christianity false? How is this not just an appeal to quantity? I also need you to get out a little more and meet some other Christians.
