Saw a commercial for this new fall show starring Wesley Snipes.

That's right... starring Wesley Snipes.

What I infer is that it is about a group of Las Vegas gamblers that wager on crimes, specifically, if one guy off the street can stop it from happening.

Actually, the IMDB description sounds more like "The Blacklist" where one shady character manipulates the others.

I predict an early demise.

Edit: Here is the description from the NBC website:
Quote: NBC.com
From the executive producers of The Blacklist comes the action-packed Las Vegas-set thriller The Player. The series co-stars Wesley Snipes as the pit boss and Charity Wakefield as the dealer for a high-stakes game, where an organization of wealthy individuals gamble on the ability of former military operative turned security expert Philip Winchester ("Strike Back," "Fringe") to stop some of the biggest crimes imaginable from playing out. Can he take them down from the inside and get revenge for the death of his wife, or is it true what they say: The house always wins

Actually NBC may suffer badly. The Blacklist followed The Voice on Monday night which is largely where it got it's powerful ratings. Now they are creating a Thursday night line up of "Heroes Reborn", "The Blacklist" and "The Player" . Thus NBC is completely replacing decades of Thursday night comedy with an all drama night.

The choice Monday night spot is going to Blindspot

NBC will have 10 hours of drama, with the brilliantly named Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D.,and Chicago Med.

But NBC has not totally given up on comedy, but the one hour of comedy this fall will be moved to Friday night, where they will lead off with "Live TV" versions of their sitcom Undateable. Later in the year they have a few more sitcoms including two Latina themed comedies, Superstore and Hot and Bothered.

Thinking more about the premise, wasn't there a Star Trek TOS episode with a similar plot? Triskelion?

I assume NFL football is still the program to beat. What were they thinking when they moved Monday Night Football to cable?

Yes. But we are talking about NBC scripted television. NBC's best rating night is Sunday with Sunday night football #1 and #8. But their second best night is Monday #12 and #14. NBC has only one scripted show over 10 million viewer (The Blacklist). There goal is to have 3 or 4 like the other networks.

NBC TUESDAY: Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris / The Voice / Chicago Med / Chicago Fire
NBC WEDNESDAY: The Mysteries of Laura / Law & Order: Special Victims / Chicago P.D.
NBC THURSDAY: Heroes Reborn / The Blacklist / The Player
NBC FRIDAY: (Undateable / Truth Be Told) / Grimm / Dateline NBC
Only (Undateable & Truth Be Told) are 30 minute shows.

It was possibly the smartest financial decision in all media.Disney bought ABC and ESPN in 1996. Since they moved MNF went to ESPN in 2006 , ESPN has become the most valuable network by far in the country (over $50 billion). Disney makes far more money from cable fees + advertising than they could ever hope to make from just advertising alone on ABC.

Did you notice the Two and Half Men was slightly above Modern Family to still hold the second place sitcom. It's like Berta said in the finale, "Can't we try and drag a few more years out of this show?"

Another Vegas show where none of it
is shot in Vegas. The exteriors will be
B roll of Vegas, the interiors will be on
an LA sound stage.

You're joking, right? Airplane repo was the
most faked and scripted reality show ever
made, and that's saying something. None
of it was real. Not one story.

In total audience,
CBS drew the largest crowd (11.3 million, up 6 percent) for a seventh straight season (and 12 out of the last 13).
NBC placed second with 8.6 mil (down 8 percent from last year’s Sochi Olympics-boosted numbers), followed by
ABC (8 mil, up 7 percent) and
Fox (5.8 mil, down 22 percent).
The CW averaged 2.2 mil, up 12 percent to its most watched season in seven years.

ABC topped the 18-49 demo if you subtract out sports (edging out CBS, 2.2 vs. 2.1). The Alphabet network also had four shows in the Top 10 (Modern Family, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder and Grey’s Anatomy), and the top four dramas (folding in Once Upon a Time). ABC’s #TGIF line-up improved its Thursday numbers by 19 percent, while Wednesday’s two-hour comedy block rose 19 percent in the demo to a 3-year high.

Fox boasts the Big 4’s No. 1-rated series in freshman megahit Empire.
