It is exactly the opposite! It shows everyone that the priest is there to serve. If anyone it puts the priest in his proper place. In your same post you are contradicting yourself. In the first part you say you would be embarrassed for me and then in the second you say that I am embarrassing the people. Really no one should be embarrassed, the reality is I am called to serve as Christ did by laying down my life to help others. This is symbolized in the washing of the feet and most profoundly in the Eucharist.

In the first part I said you're boasting your humility. In the second part I said the people you use for your boast should find it quite embarrassing.

No it does not. You want to be in your
proper place, do it every day. Stepping
down from your arrogant lofty perch,
deigning to lower yourself to washing
feet once in awhile, is the embodiment
of condescension. Of course the person
having his feet washed is embarrassed,
that's the POINT of doing it. He's
embarrassed because the priest is light
years above him in the religion, and
this is how the priest drives home that
point.

Maybe it was originally a foot fetish? Of course, then it would just be creepy. Stranger wanting to touch your foot on false pretenses is what would make it creepy. Again, I don't care about someone's fetish when it's consenting adults.
