Okay, simple question. Is there a rule in checkers that if you can jump your opponent, then you must jump? If yes, if you can double jump, must you do both of them?

You should include the case where you jump and get crowned, and then another jump is available.

You must continue to jump as long as you have available jumps. If you have a choice, then you don't have to make the most possible jumps.

Your move stops when you are "crowned" even if you could now make an additional jump.

Forcing jumps is part of the strategy.

Thanks for your help. I just downloaded a checkers app and it defaulted to jumping being optional. I wasn't used to that so changed the rules in settings.

Used to play that if you did not jump you lost the potential jump. If you had two jumps it was your choice but had to jump one or the other.

Haven't seen anybody play checkers
since Uncle Joe on Petticoat Junction.

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I wonder, in that movie, when Billy Bob
says the worst things to the kid, if
the kid is really there in the scene
for it. All movies are made with one
camera, when they switch to the kids
face, he could easily not be there.
That's a lot of crappy stuff to say
to any kid, even one who's an actor.

I doubt it. He was between the ages of 9 and 10 when they shot that movie.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) starred in an R-Rated film when he was age 10 to 11. It was called "The Tailor of Panama (2001)" based on a novel by John le Carré. I read that he has never seen the movie since he was too little to watch it at the time, and he was never curious as he got older.

I think he was. The chemistry between them was too good to fake.
