Good news: No Sally this year. Salvation Army will still be feeding Wednesday Soup today, I'm sure; but today the Sermons will be short. |

Next Thanksgiving you are invited to my rectory for a nice dinner. Can you imagine the fun conversations we will have! Anyone is welcome to join us and watch the fun. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Remember, it's not a crime if the food poisoning is accidental. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Remember, he "speaks his mInd" (a fantastic virtue also ascribed to a recently famous figure), which ever since you were a kid, made you force down your turkey as quickly as humanly possible. And Mom thought it was because you liked her cooking. Dad would drink more than you had ever seen him drink before. Uncle Bob would do the same, though he would have a head start as he would show up half snockered already. Between then and when he inevitably passed out on the couch (an agreed-upon signal for everyone to get a second piece of mince pie), you would hear his ineffable wisdom on what was wrong with this lousy country and how we could fix everything just by getting rid of "THEM." (Who "they" were varied from year to year.) I personally am not much for holidays. I wish everyone--even those who voted for ACK GAG BARF CHOKE ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK, uh, everyone a happy December 14th, January 9th, March 28th, and every other day that isn't set apart and mass-merchandised to be one of those days when we pretend that we can stand one another. Be a decent human being whether or not the calendar or antiquated custom tells you to. Alternatively, Uncle Bob is coming for Christmas, too, so remember your Second Amendment rights. Oh, and 1/3 of the Pilgrim settlement died as a direct result of the first Thanksgiving... |
