I think you hit the nail on the head. It is a day of nothingness as we remember our Lord dead and in the tomb. No Mass, no sacraments, just prayers of longing and hopefulness.

No daily Mass that day? Would that be the only day of they year for no Mass?

Good Friday and Holy Saturday there are no Masses.

Thanks, I did not remember or realize that. I remember the Good Friday Service but didn't realize no Masses.

Out of curiosity while we are on the subject, would a funeral just have to wait until Easter Monday?

You can make these funny and ignorant comparisons all you like but it did happen, His disciples saw it, .

What more proof is needed, then. By
your standard we should believe all
urban myths that had a few 'eye
witnesses'. We should all go back to
the days when everything under the
sun was true, as long as it had a
good story attached to it.

In the Philippines they know how to party
on Good Friday. They really throw themselves
into the spirit of the thing.

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

From what I have heard the Vatican has asked/told them to knock it off with that for years now.

I always look forward to it every Easter, it
puts participation in your religion on a
whole different level. They're just re-inactors,
not unlike our Civil War actors. And they
are fanatically Xtion, nobody can deny that.

No, by my standard we should believe in something only when it has been proven through two centuries to be a source of life giving and life changing grace for people.

My bad, I meant to say two millennia!

Much of it thru coercion, theft of property
on a scale never seen before, human rights
violations in the millions, on and on and
on. The history of the Church is nothing
to brag about, unless you like hanging
your head in shame.
