we all agree: it's ok for Obama to kill Americans

Last night, NBC News reported how President Obama decides which Americans to kill without trial.

You would think that conservative Republicans would demand that Obama be impeached for killing Americans without trial, but Republicans are more concerned with birth certificates, Benghazi, and how often the President goes skeet-shooting. You would think that liberal Democrats would be appalled at Obama's habit of killing Americans without trial, especially after complaining about Bush's Patriot Act and Cheney's warrantless wiretaps. You would think that the U.S. Supreme Court or Congress might be nervous about this extreme overreach of executive power.

But for the most part, liberals and conservatives aren't interested in this story. It's not a scandal. It's not a big deal. The Supreme Court could care less. Right wing pundits like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly don't talk about it. And left wing pundits like Rachel Maddow, Michael Moore, and Bill Maher are oblivious to the concept that even if Obama is trustworthy on this, the next president (Palin? Santorum? Gingrich?) could follow Obama's precedent, with few legal roadblocks.

Where's the outrage?

Speaking from the right we have been warning America about who Obama is and how radical his views are. We have been warning about the cult of personality that follows him and how they will never call him out on anything. For five years now we have been warning America. Our reward is to be called radical-wing nut-racist-sexist-bugoted-uncaring-homophobes.

America you chose free health care over freedom. Live with your choice. Us conservstives will survive even if we have to withdraw to the semi-autonomous zone for 10-20 years.

In general, I agree with your assesement about the indifference,

Though the ACLU never missed a beat whether Obama or Bush and has consistenly sent out warnings about this issue (if you're on the e-mailing list).

Rush Limbaugh complains about Obama's health care policies. Rush doesn't complain about Obama's drones and kill lists.

So? Is it Limbaugh's job to cover every last subject? If we had anything resembling a impartial media interested in journalism and not activism maybe they would ask some of the questions. Half of our media will give more coverage to Obama's march madness picks than drones.

I think sedition and treason are still punishable by death, so the checklist is fine by me.

The funny thing is obama crying about extreme interrogation and now he just kills them instead! Given the choice the bad guys might take a little waterboarding over being blown to smithereens.

Torture has been defined as "cruel and unusual".

Death sentence is iffy in the courts. Some say it could also be cruel and unusual.

What is Torture:

Quote:
He then again applied the whip to the back of this man, until the blood flowed copiously; but the sufferer hid his face in his hands, and said not a word. The other gentleman then asked the overseer if he was confident this man had stolen the pig; and, receiving an affirmative answer, he said he would make the fellow confess the truth, if he would follow his directions. He then asked the overseer if he had ever tried cat-hauling, upon an obstinate negro; and was told that this punishment had been heard of, but never practiced on this plantation.

A boy was then ordered to get up, run to the house, and bring a cat, which was soon produced. The cat, which was a large gray tom-cat, was then taken by the well-dressed gentleman, and placed upon the bare back of the prostrate black man, near the shoulder, and forcibly dragged by the tail down the back, and along the bare thighs of the sufferer. The cat sunk his nails into the flesh, and tore off pieces of the skin with his teeth. The man roared with the pain of this punishment, and would have rolled along the ground, had he not been held in his place by the force of four other slaves, each one of whom confined a hand or a foot. As soon as the cat was drawn from him, the man said he would tell who stole the hog, and confessed that he and several others, three of whom were then holding him, had stolen the hog - killed, dressed, and eaten it. In return for this confession, the overseer said he should have another touch of the cat, which was again drawn along his back, not as before, from the head downwards, but from below the hips to the head. The man was then permitted to rise, and each of those who had been named by him as a participator in stealing the hog, was compelled to lie down, and have the cat twice drawn along his back; first downwards, and then upwards. After the termination of this punishment, each of the sufferers was washed with salt water, by a black woman, and they were then all dismissed. This was the most excruciating punishment that I ever saw inflicted on black people, and, in my opinion, it is very dangerous; for the claws of the cat are poisonous, and wounds made by them are very subject to inflammation.

Tip of the hat to Sen Rand Paul (R-KY) for enduring an old-fashioned Senate filibuster- Jimmy Stewart style! Sen Paul is trying to block Obama's nomination for CIA head, and much of his 8 hour speech today has been devoted to drones and kill lists. Bravo, Senator! Finally, the Republicans are raising a legitimate protest about Obama's constitutional overreach instead of ridiculous partisan distractions about birth certificates, etc.

You don't watch Rachel Maddow. I can tell because you'd find the liberal outrage on or about 9:00pm on MSNBC for the last few months.
