ROI on your law degree gets very low below there.

Most lawyers who work for themselves
have a feast or famine existence. They
have a lot of money, or are waiting
to get paid and have none. Many get
in trouble for borrowing from clients
escrow accounts and never paying it
back because they never have enough
money.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I know of on did just that. HS Classmate of my sister. Guy was voted most likely to succeed in HS. About 9 years back he dipped into someone's escrow. Made the news. I was working for lawyers and was curious, asked the PT evening lawyer. Ask stared "I know this guy......" and he laughed. I convinced him I really did know a guy. Lawyer said there is next to no way he gets re-barred. Last I heard he is still trying.

Lawyers usually are not even allowed to keep the interest on an escrow account. Said accounts have special numbers so they can keep track.

Many do it and put the money
back before it's known. You only
hear about the ones who don't.

Another lawyer trick is setting up
fake charities to launder money.
Hiding companies within foundations
within fake old folks homes. The
lawyer I knew did 18 months in
a Fed prison for tax evasion and
lost his law license forever.

Yup - the interest goes to the State

In the case I knew of the guy told me it goes to the state for pro bono work or something, not the general fund.

I just read this article about commuting and this line made me laugh

Quote:
If it’s your boss who keeps you from leaving on time so you can avoid the evening rush, you need to make it clear that you simply have to go.

Better question, why would you work
for somebody who won't let you work
on commute time.
