30 Patsy Cline

Patsy Cline was an amazing writer as well as a performer. Her songs are still being performed.

Jim Morrison.

This video is a tribute to celebrities who died young. About half were musicians.

It should they incorrectly have a picture of Freddie Prinze Jr. for Freddie Prinze Sr.

The most unfortunate death on that list has got to be Selena, who was murdered by the president of her own fan club. How sad.

The video reminded me that I missed a huge musician, Jim Morrison. The quartet of musicians who died at age 27 all within two years made it seemed like the age was cursed.
Age
27 Brian Jones (d. July 3 1969)
27 Jimmie Hendrix (d. September 18, 1970 )
27 Janis Joplin (d. October 4, 1970)
27 Jim Morrison (d. July 3, 1971)
27 Kurt Cobain (d. April 5, 1994)
27 Amy Winehouse (d. 23 July 2011)

I don't think "The 27 Club" became a phrase until after Cobain died.

Thanks for pointing out these musicians who died in plane crashes. I don't normally think of them on the list.

30--Jim Croce (airplane crash)
29--Ronnie Van Zandt and other members of Lynryd Skynyrd (airplane crash)

These are a couple that I remember from my youth...not really mourning, a little shock, but missing what else they (and many others on the list) may have contributed musically.

Selena is still a pretty big deal here in Texas...she comes up every year or so in discussions, tributes, etc.

Speaking to Texas:
35 - Stevie Ray Vaughn
52 - Townes Van Zandt. (52 is young and Townes Van Zandt was one of the best American songwriters ever)
The mind hungers for that on which it feeds.

Early Blues pioneer - Robert Johnson 27

Early Country pioneer - Jimmy Rogers 35
I'm a huge fan of both. I love roots music
