Yet LBJ was a Democrat.

Lyndon Johnson was the biggest racist president of the 20th century. He used the n-word constantly in private. He referred to the Civil Rights Act as 'that N bill'. He called the black servants in the White House 'boy'. One of his favorite tricks in Texas was to catch a rattlesnake on his his ranch put it in the trunk of his Cadillac and try to get a black gas station attendant to open his trunk. The poor guy would scream and jump three feet in the air and Johnson would laugh his ass off. The stories of Johnson and his racism are epic. He was the racists racist. When he was in Congress in the forties and fifties he fought against every civil rights bill that came along. Why he pushed the Civil Rights Act was a mystery to everybody. He had to see some kind of political advantage in it because he wasn't fond of any race except his own. He had racist names for every minority on the planet.

You cannot compare what a party stood for in the 1860s with what they stand for in the 2000s. It's blatantly apples and oranges. You can't even compare what the two parties stood for in the 1960s and now. Things change, times change and parties change with the times.

Eh, not news. Only like the second or third time his character flaws have been pointed out on this board I believe.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

If you don’t consider the time period, historical people would be very flawed. But LBJ didn’t live in 2021. And he pushed the envelop forward in civil rights.

Lincoln wrote some very racist things as well. Of course, the real dolts are the people living today who live with backward values.
