GMC = Garage Mechanic Called
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Not just that one.

My son bought a new GMC pickup and the transmission was plaqued with enough problems that I made a lemon law claim and forced them to buy it back.

GM has really gone downhill with their trucks
They used to have great quality
Neck and neck with Ford
They got cheap, cut back on quality
Ford zoomed right past them
Now they are struggling to beat Dodge
I would never buy a GM truck

That's an exagerration. Dodge has very limited sales anymore. GMC sold more Sierras for the first 9 months of this year than Dodge sold total vehicles.

Four speed computer controlled automatic transmission.
This has been a very dependable vehicle, although underpowered with the 5.4L if towing anything heavy.

The Consequence of Unreasonable Fuel Economy and CO 2 Standards: Increased vehicle prices keep consumers in older, dirtier, and less safe vehicles.

Trump argued that people are keeping older vehicles because they are distrustful of expensive new technology. There certainly is an element of truth to that statement.

People are cherishing their old Ford pickups with 4 or 6 speeds, and avoiding the new 10 speed transmissions.

I think he meant Ram. I still think of Ram as a Dodge brand as well.
The mind hungers for that on which it feeds.

Ram Trucks left Dodge andwas established as a division of Chrysler in 2010 and became its own brand when Chrysler was acquired by Fiat on January 21, 2014. Stellantis was formed on 16 January 2021, so it is still less than a year old.

434,772 Ram Pickup sales in the US for the first 9 months of 2021; $58,565 average transaction price Nov 2021 for Ram
191,186 GMC Sierra sales in the US for the first 9 months of 2021; $62,839 average transaction price Nov 2021 for GMC

It is hard to find average transaction prices for individual models, but as the pickups are the dominant model for the Ram and GMC brands, comparing ATP for the entire brand will have to do

I would say GMC has already lost to Ram.

Stellantis has guaranteed 10 years for all 14 of its brands, but unless Chrysler begins rebadging French cars, there is very little hope of them outliving the 10 years. Some speculation about Dodge, but the Challenger and Charger are going to become electric muscle cars.

United States sales (first 9 months of 2021)
604,671 Jeep
495,410 Ram
175,361 Dodge
74,139 Chrysler
14,193 Alfa Romeo
2,107 Fiat

Ram has come so far the past 30 years. Pre-1993 it was not even taken seriously. Soon it might be the #2 pickup. GMC is kind of there so Buick dealers can be more viable.

I once owned a '72 Dodge p/u 2WD with a 318 and automatic that was a solid, nearly indestructible rig.

Toward the end of its life we beat the bark off it, boonie bashing etc: my son rolled it on a hill but it kept on chugging.

Now he drives a Ram 3500 with turbo diesel and swears by it: I've been in it, very nice rig.

He uses it for towing RV's of various sizes and configurations and says it's a real beast.
