We had one member on here or WOV that dressed Trans but I don't know if he/she was going through any permanent change. I talked with her at a couple of meetups.

Correct. I have been involved (as their anesthesiologist) with dozens of transgender individuals. Some, for a variety of reasons, returned to the OR on multiple occasions. Of all the ones that I was aware of none regretted their decision. I have a few recollections of the total relief they expressed right before going to sleep…. As in ‘Finally! My son who just got married had a bridesmaid who was a male friend when he was in college. Apparently WAY happier in her new life.
Nareed from the forum was born male, but considered herself a woman. We had many PM discussions about the surgical part of transitioning until Nareed took offense to some of my questions of her. I tried to smooth things over at a WoV meetup, but to no avail.

The socialism part practically forces a capitalistic firm to lose money which in turn lowers asset values.

It's worse than inflation.

Joe Manchin Slams Biden for Prioritizing ‘Radical Policy Agenda’ After Vetoing Anti-ESG Bill

20 Mar 2023

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) slammed President Joe Biden for vetoing a bipartisan anti-ESG bill and prioritizing a “radical policy agenda” over getting the “best financial returns for millions of Americans’ retirement investments.”

“This Administration continues to prioritize their radical policy agenda over the economic, energy, and national security needs of our country, and it is absolutely infuriating,” stated Manchin, who is up for reelection this cycle.

Manchin was referring to Biden issuing his first veto on Monday to reject a bipartisan bill, H.R. 30, that would nullify his Labor Department rule allowing left-wing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies to be considered in retirement investing.

.
“This rule will allow Wall Street elites to use the pension and retirement plans of millions of hard-working Americans to advance left-wing social agendas that undermine our citizens’ values and way of life,” the state treasurer added.

Normal citizens expected to pick up the bank tab for the rich.

Bloomberg just reported that the $100 billion backstop [for UBS buying CS] could cost each taxpayer in Switzerland $13,500.

I would be against hiring someone who would go public with their questionable private life. C. Suisse had a different idea [probably a woke one] and can see the consequences ... horrifically bad publicity at a time of crisis... as you point out, not even a key exec, but look what happens anyway since we can see that the bank was wrong-mined about 'this', so we will assume about 'that' as well [probably correctly], meaning running a bank properly

I wouldn't have hired Rachel Levine, because I would know this is next

Yeah, that's true. We all know that no bank headed up entirely by heterosexual males has ever failed in the entire course of human history.

DIS is the top of the top 10 most woke firms (see second link at the bottom of the article).

So no surprise DIS is laying off 4,000 this go around.

Disney managers told to identify layoff candidates, with 4K job cuts expected by April: report

Disney managers were given an April deadline to propose budget cuts and make a list of employees to be laid off as CEO Bob Iger seeks to save billions of dollars by restructuring and cutting content from Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu

According to Disney Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy, the overhaul is expected to save $5.5 billion, cutting $1.5 billion in operation costs and another $3 billion from reductions in non-sports content.

And, the stock pops, as you probably well expected.

If there's one thing the market loves, it's an already financially stable company announcing a layoff.

Also, a huge company laying a bunch of folks off doesn't seem particularly, 'Woke.'

Where are these places that want to cut parents out?
Who are these activists?
I'm really not aware of these activists or places.
Why not go after these so called places or so called activists if they exist
Why not leave families alone to pursue happiness?
I've met 1 transgender that I know of and had a conversation. This was an artist that created festival posters. I 1st got to know him as a man and talked to him about his art. I have to admit I was taken aback and quite shocked at the next festival when he transitioned to her. I was a customer and continued to be a customer. She seemed so happy after the transition. I have had nice conversations with him then her about art

I've only ever spoken to two transgender individuals (irl) more than once. That's not because I have any problem with them, but as you point out, one doesn't really see that many in day-to-day life, in most areas.

One of them was more than twenty years ago when I worked up at some tennis courts. The courts sat on a hill near some woods wherein natural berries would grow, so this transgendered individual liked to come up, pick berries and would usually buy a bottle of water and chat for a minute. Aside from the fact that she was VERY clearly born a man, there wasn't anything particularly unusual about her.

An interesting thing was that I almost dated her daughter, but this was before I had ever met her (the woman) in the first place. The daughter and I talked on the phone a bunch in H.S., and also talked in school a good deal, so then I made my move and she said, "I would love to. I really would. I just can't add a relationship to the other stuff I have going on right now."

It turns out that, 'The other stuff,' consisted mainly of her dad, who I don't know if she still went by, 'Dad,' or not, coming out as transgendered. I don't know what you do (as the transgendered person) in that situation. On the one hand, coming out with your daughter still in high school could be seen as a bit selfish and could contribute to the daughter having psychological instability, but on the other hand, if you've been living what you consider to be a lie for however many years, then it just seems like a tough situation all around.

Of course, I could never understand what it's like to feel as though I'm in the wrong body/gender, but my inclination is that I would have waited until my kid was out of High School. That's just my opinion. There's no real right answer.

The second transgendered person I sort of know just works at the 7-11 near where I live. In fact, she just recently transitioned. I kept calling her the wrong name (she has always presented as sort of an effeminate male prior to the transition, wigs and what have you) and she never corrected me on it. One day, I finally noticed her name tag had changed and now an, 'a' at the end of her name, making it a female name. I asked her why she never corrected me on calling her her previous name, but she just said I've always been nice to her and she didn't know whether or not I had any religious leanings and if her making a production of it would offend me.

I said, "Not in the slightest. I don't even care what your gender is; if there's something you wish to be called, then that is what I should call you."

Still say hi to her every time I come in and we have a brief chat if there is no line; it's the same as before.

There's two sides to this coin (see link).

Since I direct my own funds, I'll take the woke money, if they let me have it.

It's like playing basketball against a blind person and then slam dunking and holding on to the rim.

For example, DIS has a 51.83 PE (S & P 500 average is around 17).

It won't sell off like a normal stock, because of the social rating (ESG).

Money managers, in effect, are encouraged to buy the stock (if not forced), for non-economic reasons, with pension funds thereby paying way too much per share.

This isn't necessarily bad for folks that play the other side.

It's transferring the pension money to accounts like mine.

So Biden working in socialism to capitalism is not all bad, although it allocates capital foolishly and is not efficient.

Eventually, many firms like this will go broke.

I was looking for where I said banks should be for men only to run, but couldn't find it. I think having women making most of the decisions might have been a good move for C. Suisse.

So, transgender women too? Might work, I wouldn't be against it as such. I wouldn't want it to be an activist, though, those have to be something not belonging in any business. I'll grant it can be complicated, there's the public image to consider, and what works for that has changed. If someone like Mission reflexively wants to defend the hiring of such to the point where he wants to put a spin on what I said, it shows it's true.

If I'm in a burning fire, I won't care who saves me.

It's the same way in the office.

But if I place a person in there that is not the best, just because of race, gender, etc. then that is not the most efficient.

It's socialism and not capitalism.
