The one I watched just came out in 2024.

Nevermind, I am thinking of a movie from the 80s (or early 90s?), must have the same name. The one I am thinking of is somebody about a who is good at combat, who becomes a bouncer at a rough rural bar (this is a vast simplification, but that is the gist.)

Yes, same plot as this one. I am guessing a remake or same theme different story.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

The one Gandler is talking about is the original from the 80s, with Patrick Swayze.

The one DRich is talking about, with Jake Gyllenhaal, is a remake that just premiered.

Seems like the audience rating is high for Godzilla x, whereas critic rating low. So, sounds like something I might find worth watching when it hits the aftermarket. (stuff I watch when nothing else to do at home, or late at night)

YMMV.

I saw the new Ghostbusters last night.

It was very “meh.”

Sounds like that will be the last attempted sequel.

Fun for conspiracy theorist.

Keanna Reeves character "Neo" in the original Matrix movie. In the scene where they interrogate him...

Genius or turkey? Not like executives haven't made bad calculations either.

Francis Ford Coppola screened his latest, largely self-financed film, Megalopolis, to studio heads on March 28, such as Donna Langley of Universal, Netflix's Ted Sarandos, and Tom Rothman of Sony. He's looking for a unicorn — a mainstream distributor that can afford a massive marketing campaign for what is, for all intents and purposes, a giant art film. Based on reactions from that screening, Coppola may be out of luck (though being considered 'too risky' for film studios in 2024 is a veritable badge of honor in this culture).

Never saw men, but I liked “Ex Marina” and I remember watching “Annihilation” and not hating it.
