Tomspur Member since: Apr 10, 2014 Threads: 4 Posts: 80 | I'm sure there has been some great duo's on screen before my time but I can only comment on the ones that stick out for me. Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon Sly and Kurt Russel ("You broke THAT jaw???") Richard Prior and Gene Wilder Most recently I really enjoy Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn and also anything with Jason Sudeikis in. Any favorites? |

Great protagonist/antagonist relationships; an abundance. But buddy movies, with equal stature? Hmmmm. Lemmon and Curtis (some like it hot). Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little (blazing saddles). Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman (young frankenstein). Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor (singin in the rain). Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra (guys and dolls). Mel Gibson and Danny Glover (all the lethal weapons). Even that lot was hard to come up with, but those qualify for me. Never doubt a small group of concerned citizens can change the world; it's the only thing ever has |

In the 30's and into the 40's, Crosby was by far the biggest singing star in the world. And to this day, he's still the 3rd biggest movie box office star, behind Clark Gable and John Wayne. And his song White Christmas is still the best selling single of all time. They pressed so many that in 1947 a new master had to be made because the old one was wearing out. The 7 'Road' movies Hope and Crosby made were wildly successful, especially the first 5. It made super stars out of them and their casual onscreen demeanor is unmatched in any other team. They made hundreds of appearances with each over the decades, and were even business partners in real estate and oil. Yet they never had dinner together, never went to each others homes, never did anything together socially. It was a business relationship only. Which was probably wise. Look what happened to Lewis and Martin. There's was all business too in the last couple of years together, but only because they hated each others guts by then. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Whoa, slow down. I only get about as modern as Jackie Chan and that other guy. I do like Robert Downey Jr as the remade Sherlock Holmes, but he doesn't really have an equitable stand-out acting match. Nothing wrong with Jude Law, just not magic chemistry. It's good, but not like a good acting team. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

Oh, 21st century only? Then nobody, yet. Maybe later? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
