We fought AND WON a freakin war while dealing with smallpox.
Smallpox killed almost 1 out of every 3 infected people, and British soldiers were mostly immune.

YET WE STILL WON!!!

I wasn't far off. From the beginning I have been and am still asking what is so special about this latest china virus. So far what seems different is the news is covering it like a play by play. I do not care how often I am called a crank, something is up.

You can choose to forget, but what makes this "so special" is that it was so virulent, so contagious, that we had to build hospitals in Central Park, put beds in the LOBBIES of hospitals, make the freaking Javits Center a hospital, quintuple the number of ICU beds in hospitals, run out of space to keep the dead, run out of PPE, virtually kill of entire nursing homes, etc....

That not 'special' enough for you? You don't think those events are "newsworthy'?



Once again.... say the responses have been to stringent, too economy killing, too civil liberty restrictive..... but to ask what is 'special' about this is keeping your head in the sand.

But remember Ed, national emergency or not, there are different ways to address it. The level of restrictions on the populace is what most are upset about. (Unless you are a dry cleaner...)

And none of that stuff was used. None of it. Anyone who makes ventalators might as well go out of business as we are oversupplied for a decade.

As to nursing homes yes, Cuomo has blood on his hands. NYers will re-elect him so he need not worry. But the regular flu would likely have had similar results with similar inputs.

Those things were done because of all the news on it. Because of all the buildup. History will not be kind to 2020.
