A better correlation would be "why do Democrats get scared of things more than Republicans?" Because this is not just covid. The same patterns fit everything from global warming to airbags in cars. Democrats are just far more likely to think everything is going to kill them. Here is a great example from my own life. Cannot say for sure how each side voted, but one was some kind of office where they did some kind of substance abuse help (been 25 years so I do not remember exact) and the afternoon was a moving company. So at the least each fits the stereotype of where a liberal or conservative would be more likely to work. Well, the former was in the morning and we were in an office and lots of the people asked us to skip their desk, they were afraid of having just a little pesticide near them. Later, at the moving company, we had people saying, "Give me a double shot, I don't want them things under my desk!" My trainer pointed out the difference to make sure I learned that you had that kind of difference in people. Who buys Volvos, liberals or conservatives? Who more prefers to live in a HOA? Who loved wearing the masks? IOW, it is not about Trump not saying to wear masks or Biden saying you should. It would have happened as it did no matter what. People are picking their politicians based on their personal temperament not basing their behavior on their politics. And this divide keeps getting bigger and bigger. IMHO it started in the 1980s. If you are old enough you remember the "Baby on Board" signs on cars. That whole decade started a sort of "no risk is acceptable" movement on the left side of the spectrum. Those of us on the right laughed at them. We still do. And it keeps growing. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

And the majority of them don’t even live in the kind of neighborhood where they’d actually need to use it, 99.9% of the time. But it doesn’t matter to me if they’re scared. Just pointing it out. That is not "scared" that is being prepped. "Scared" would be afraid of having a gun in your home because you for some reason do not trust yourself. Are you also saying cops are "scared" since they carry a gun but 99% will never draw it on the job? War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

So, liberals are being prepared then as well. Works for me. Besides, now you’re really losing the argument when you mention cops not using their guns much. If they don’t use them that much, then how much more that does it prove you guys are scared. It’s not even your job to confront law breakers. You must be shakin’ in your boots with unnecessary fear all day. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

No, they are living scared. When you are afraid to be around people without masks, that is scared.
I'd rather have a gun and be prepared. You are just trying to make a silly comparison because I have made a good point. Liberals simply act afraid of things that conservatives brush off and push thru. Between the china virus and global warming liberals act as though the world is going to end. Conservatives just go on with life. And I think that upsets you for some reason. Maybe you wish you could not worry about so many things or something. I know I made a good point when I get such a silly reply! War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

It is more than preparation. There hasn't been any 9mm ammo on the shelves anywhere for well over a year. It is being horded as fast as it is manufactured. In my town, word leaks out when a sporting goods store is going to put ammo on the shelves and people line up outside hours before the store opens. Faulty statistical method to prove the point they want to make. They compared the number of people who got clots after the vaccine compared to the number of people who got clots after getting Covid. Since only 10% of the people have gotten Covid that comparison is out by a factor of 10. "but if you make yourselves sheep, the wolves will eat you." Benjamin Franklin |

What’s funny is, I only argued with him because I think his whole idea is ridiculous. Some people are braver than others. And people also have different values and perceptions. I’ve seen plenty of liberals willing to get pummeled in the face of overwhelming force. And some won’t get anywhere near that kind of thing. Big deal. Conservatives are no different.
