True story…. My wife has a friend for last 30 years, they went to Dental School together. The friend is an avid anti-vaxxer. Basically implied my wife was risking her daughter’s lives by having them get the vaccine. They couldn’t have a conversation that doesn’t eventually lead to some COVID issue that they argue about. The friendship is basically over. The friend just went to Texas and bought a house because she expects New York to crack down on the unvaccinated.

My question…. can you keep a friendship with someone you consider that stupid that they are refusing the vaccine? To my knowledge, I don’t have a single unvaccinated friend. I am not sure how I’d react to someone I cared about that was an anti-vaxxer.

I have at least one friend who is unvaccinated. I've also had stupid friends, in my time. I don't even know that vaccines have anything to do with friendship. In general, are you willing to be friends with a person that you may consider stupid?

Not a close friend. But acquaintances, like a golf partner once a month, sure. Or someone on an anonymous Internet forum….

If family members can't argue about some topics without becoming estranged they should probably not bring them up. Unless that's your intention.

Of course, there's sometimes decisions that cross into the boundaries of personal interaction. Like EB's situation with the car. You do the best you can to resolve it to everyone's satisfaction, or you just do the what's right for you.

Here is the thing. More people dropped friendships because the friends liked Trump than hated him. As a general rule people on the left have a harder time being friendly with people on the right than the other way around. Which goes back to my what word to use, "rule" is harsh but I have to get back to work so think "rule" but not literal. Hypothesis maybe. Anyways, it goes, "the difference between liberals and conservatives is conservatives find liberals misguided but liberals hate the fact that they have to share the earth with conservatives."

So it goes with the vax. Do you have friends that have beliefs you did not like? You cannot agree on everything. I have friends who think Duff's wings are the best around, I think they are the most overrated wing I ever had. Does that mean I am not friends with them anymore?

Maybe I am unusual that way. Face once commented how I could separate disagreement on issues from being civil and friends. To me that should be the default. Funny thing is we hear how to not treat people different on skin color, etc. But treating them different just because they disagree with you?

2 weeks ago I took some things to the hospital for my brother but I did not go inside I took them to the valet captain and he saw to it they got delivered. We were talking and he said he's not vaccinated and he deals with people, hundreds of people, all day long. He said he's not vaccinated because he knows too many people who had problems getting vaccinated and he also knows people who are fully vaccinated and got covid and ended up in the hospital.

My brother is now in a physical therapy rehab center. The lady who answers the phone has been there 40 years and she told me she is not vaccinated for the same reasons the valet said. She also deals with people face-to-face all day long. I thought it was interesting that these are both intelligent people who work in the medical care industry and neither one is vaccinated for valid reasons.

Most people not getting it are for all those same reasons and most have thought it out. Only to be called all kinds of names by the left, as usual.

Yes, we on the left call them “COVID victim #624,543,” “COVID victim #624,544,” etc. etc.
