Hmmmm,

So far the Omicron Covid variant has now been detected in three U.S. states:
-a man in Minnesota
-a woman in Colorado and
-a person in California

Guess what they all have in common?

All of them were FULLY VACCINATED

What does this tell us and what should be done?

Are fully vaccinated people omicron "magnets"?
Should we quarantine all fully vaccinated people to prevent the spread of omicron variant?
Should fully vaccinated people not be allowed on planes, trains or any type of public transportation?
Should fully vaccinated people not be allowed in stores, restaurants, indoor sporting events, etc?

The information above in italics is sarcasm. I can see the above being proposed if the opposite was true, i.e. only un-vaccinated people contracted the omicron variant

You’re vaccinated, what do you recommend we do?

Good question
Well, How about, we stay away from infected folk? Or require them to stay away from us. Some sort of what shall we call it... Social distancing. Maybe wear some sort of PPE and take a bit of care who we cough on or get coughed on by.

We could hope that it doesn't kill those who are vaccinated. Yeah, That's what I'm hoping for. That it would not kill us vaccinated folk. The unvaccinated can take their chances..... While staying the hell away from me.
As a vaccinated person, I'm not fearful of what omicron could do to me. If I thought it was harmless and imbued extra immunity, I might even seek it out.

It's too early to know how omicron will impact the current covid playing field.

Perhaps it will be more contagious yet less virulent / harmful due to its many mutations?

Dunno, can only hope covid keeps migrating to the point it is no longer harmful.

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

IF, and it's a big IF, Omicron can be trusted to give mild infection and IF catching it gives immunity to other strains, then we could, one day, find it beneficial to all go out of our way to catch it. It COULD be more useful than the vaccine. We need to wait and see what it's impacts are on different populations. E.g. it MIGHT be deadly to the unvaccinated, but give a mild snuffle to the vaccinated, or might give a mild snuffle to everyone. I draw a potential parallel to how Cowpox proved useful in fighting smallpox. https://www.britannica.com/science/cowpox

Anyone remember Chickenpox Parties?

We could wait and see or we could get some lunatics. trail blazers to go out of their way to get infected now. There's no shortage of such lunatics. trail blazers

Fine by me. Stay at home so you have no chance of being near me or anyone else did not take the vax.

Don't tell that to the media, they need the story.

Maybe my prediction will bear out about omicron.

I'm not that worried. Although dangerous diseases aren't rare, ones with just the right qualities to both spread quickly and be dangerous to humans seem to be rare compared to all the viruses spreading and mutating. Because all viruses that spread enough will mutate.

Not only that, they need the quality of spreading without people knowing they are even sick to really get things going. And it also helps if the window of active infection is as wide as possible.

I'm probably wrong though. Hah. But most random mutations are failures if you're expecting to get certain specific qualities. It's like all those monkeys typing. Almost none of it will be Shakespeare.
