But apparently the Supreme Court is ALLOWING states (at least New York) to enforce their own vaccine mandates. I will update the gang here if people will actually be losing their jobs at my old hospital. There are a vocal few who have refused the vaccine. I know one guy in education that has some BS excuse saying he is allergic to an ingredient in the vaccine that 'his doctor told him', but he doesn't know what that ingredient is..... his request to be exempt has been denied, and he has been told he has until JUNE to get vaccinated or lose his job. JUNE?!? My guess is his employer wants to not have to enforce their policy, and is hoping vaccine mandates go away.... |

My point was that if a doctor tells you that you are allergic to ‘an ingredient’ in the vaccine I’d want to know exactly which ingredient it is! Can you imagine not asking? As far as the extremely rare cases of myocarditis from (possibly) the vaccine, it pales in comparison to the chances of dying being unvaccinated. And pales in comparison to the misery of being an unvaccinated recovering ‘long hauler’. |

| SOOPOO Member since: Feb 19, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 5744 | Can we just rename the thread ‘The Manchin Presidency?’ It seems he is against the concept of the ‘Child Tax Credit’, which just pays a monthly stipend for poor (and middle class?) people who have children they cannot afford to have. I hope he stands firm and it goes away. Each state already has ‘welfare’ for people who are poor enough to qualify for it. No need to dump federal tax dollars on the (most)everybody gets free money program. Question for the forum If a Dem Senator dies today, will McConnell become Majority leader until that Senator is replaced? |

What's hilarious is Sinema's name has dropped out of the conversation & she isn't voting for this BS either. I think Tester in Montana isn't really on board based on his recent interviews. The Dems are F'd, they won't get Build Back Socialism passed this year or in 2022. It's a great time to sit back as a Conservative & watch the Dems implode. Inflation is raging, the Fed is going to have to raise rates 3 times in 2022, all good election year stuff for the Dems. Meanwhile we get to laugh at the Leftists here pointing to January 6th & The Big Lie as their only talking points. Quite pathetic to be honest, but when it's all you got, you lead with BS. While I have not found an exact answer to your question, based upon what has happened in the past, McConnell will become Majority leader until that Senator is replaced. Majority leader will then will be based upon if the deceased was replaced by a republican or democrat. What I have been curious about is how Independents such as Bernie Sanders and Angus King can be counted as democrats in determining which party is in the majority. I believe that if you are to be counted as a republican or a democrat, you should be a registered member of that party. |

| SOOPOO Member since: Feb 19, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 5744 | . This I know (I think!). Majority leader is determined by a vote. The ‘independents’ (a lie if there ever was one!) agree to vote with a certain party, in this case the Democrats obviously. They caucus with the Democrats as well. So, I believe if Joe Manchin wanted McConnell to be majority leader, he has that power. It’s not like they vote for Majority leader every day. I’m wondering what the process would be in the event of a Dem death, even if the Dem would be replaced by another Dem but not for months. |

So you think it's fine and dandy to dump another 4.9 trillion dollars into the national debt when we already have the worst raging inflation in anybody here's lifetime. I'm seeing it everywhere now. I feed a lot of birds and I was paying $5.49 for a 20 lb bag of birdseed at Walmart. 3 days ago it went to $7.49 and today it's $9.29. It's gone up almost 100% in a week. Luckily I bought enough to last me three or four months when it was still $5.49. Little things like I was paying $0.57 for a can of mushrooms now they are $0.93 a can. I was paying $0.50 for a can of chicken broth now it's $0.72 a can. These are not little increases. Do you know what would happen to the United States economy and the world economy if that Build and Bust the Treasury bill were to pass? Economic devastation. Everybody blames Biden but Trump's at fault too. It was under his watch that we started doing all those stimulus checks with money we didn't have and spending trillions of dollars of newly printed money. Now we see what happens when you do that. The same thing that happened in Germany after World War 1, runaway inflation. Buying a used car is more expensive now buying a house is more expensive now. Renting a car is out of sight, hotel rooms are getting ridiculous. And it is far from over. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
