I actually disagree with this ban. My position is that EvenBob did not specifically identify a group in his pre-edited post.

His pre-edited post just strongly implied that he believes people illegally crossing the border should be gunned down. He never said anything about what culture, race, religion or nationality those people might represent. It's obviously most likely that he meant people coming from Mexico, but he didn't say that.

Anyway, advocating in favor of draconian tactics, in my opinion, should not be seen as hate speech. Hate speech would be if he specified, for example, that they should do that at the SOUTHERN border, but he didn't, he just said that should be our border policy.

It's obviously a terrible idea and would be a morally terrible thing to do, but I don't think that rises to the level of Hate Speech.

Also, if that's what is going to qualify as Hate Speech, then I think the bar for, "Hate Speech," is too low to even discuss politics. I also understand that OnceDear is banned for saying something about wishing for anti-vaxxers to die? I didn't even interpret his statement that way...I interpret it as he wants them to die, "More vocally," if they are going to be dying anyway.

I think it's tough to discuss politics and have such a low bar for what constitutes, "Hate Speech." That being the case, in solidarity with Evenbob (of all people) I will not be self-banning, but I will not be posting until his ban is expired.

It might not have helped him that he tried to cover his tracks with post editing on both this site and the other in a close time frame.

I have no idea what post was in violation in this specific case. But, your premise about conservative targeting is absurd.

But, in my history here, conservatives routinely make over the top and insulting statements and get warning after warning, and then whine when they finally get acted upon by Mods.

Conservatives get such a large buffer and such a weighted scale its beyond humorous that they still think they are targeted by Mods. Look at recent examples of conservatives ignoring several direct warnings, and then doubling down, getting a brief suspension, and making constant posts about how unfair it was.....

The reason the suspension list has more members on the right, is because they generally say more insults and offensive statements (usually after countless warnings) and then make a huge deal when one of their own gets suspended....
