Biden's newest DOE pick. [snip]

and some of you guys thought Sam was bad news. Sam cares about the children, Dudes!

Where is there anything that sam educates children about sex? And, even if he did would he really educate kids about fetishes (unlikely)?

I feel like this guy is getting smeared for no reason for being open about what he is into. And, conservatives wonder why some people stay silent.

If the message is about consensual sexual behavior, that's a proper message. That doesn't look like it was held in a school age classroom, so it doesn't even introduce children into the equation, unless I'm missing something.

I might bemoan what this country is coming to, but I'm otherwise not too worried about Sam. If I was a sober Lefty, though, I'd be quite worried. Yeah, Biden delighted much of the LBGTQ+ folk, but it's the old mistake of pandering to the vote that you already have in your pocket. Sure, to make 'em happy, it'd be good to have such peppered into positions in your administration, so that, sotto voce , it goes around that "Biden has come through for us as promised". But here he has put in an over-the-top activist with lots of online images that will prove to be a disaster I think. A DISASTER for any plan to get back the Independent voters he has already alienated to the max.

Should be a disaster anyway. I noticed again that if you just google his name and click on 'news', you don't get much. Right away on the first page, you get mentions of a different Sam Brinton even. I added 'department of energy' and then you get results, as the non-MSM stuff comes up.

You might bemoan that he is gay or into pup play? (Because, most people into that fetish are straight).
I guarantee if that photo was of him with two hot girls on a leash you would be praising for such a macho nominee.

Its not about pandering, the dude is highly qualified. Quite possible one of the most qualified in recent history. There is only one (or two if you count the fetish separate) that people seem to be against him, and none of it has to do with his education, experience, or qualifications. He Linked in and Resume was posted a page or two back, you can see for yourself.

In any case the idea that he goes to schools to encourage kids to engage in that fetish is a total smear with no foundation....

Probably should worry about a guy talking about dating his own daughter if we're considering character.

That wasn’t “worried about” previously…and won’t come up again if he runs again?

Of course it was and it will…then people get to make a choice.

Nothing this nominee has done or said that I have seen disqualifies him or even makes him questionable. That is the question the Senate needs to consider; why even bring up some other subject?

The Presidential candidates are vetted to the people by their actions and the media (well, not completely sometimes) and the people give the advice and consent by voting.

I feel like I should have an opinion on all of this but….

I really couldn’t care less.

(Pup play is weird to me too)

Suppose we had a Republican candidate for some high profile government position that was into S&M. Pictures surfaced of him with willing women in harness' does anyone actually think the MSM and women's rights groups wouldn't be all over it?

I don't see how it would he an issue. Lots of people into a lot of stuff, if it's consensual who cares.

I am sure that the media would have a field day with it like they are now, but it would not be a game over.

Though, there is a huge difference between an appointed employee and running for office. This guy is not running for anything. If a politican in an election took such a photo, I have no doubt it would be used against them (or at least attempted).

People in or moving into high profile positions doing anything gets in the news if it doesn't bore people. That's the standard here.

what this country is coming to is what I bemoan

that might catch my interest, but as an advisor to the prez I would be totally against hiring the guy if he was an advocate for threesomes so demented he was filling the internet with images about it.

so, if a fly on the wall, you picture the advisors to the prez saying only that. "We have a qualified candidate, check off on this will you?" ... without adding "he is a big hit with the LGBTQ+"

I won't be surprised if he is a total pain in the ass in his new position and will constantly come up with impractical ideas about nuclear waste disposal. Or start railing against the whole industry, advocating green energy instead
